If i add two pages a day to each website, will that make a dent in my Google SEO results? That would equate to roughly 730 new pages per year per website. I've heard people say that if you're not adding at least 5 pages a day you won't see big SEO results. What do you guys think? -jay
I've had sites where I only added 1-2 new pages per week and I still ranked very well (top half of first page in google). Ranking doesn't rely on just 1 method. Adding 1-2 pages a day, you'll have good content which they love and so do viewers, so it won't hurt
That's not true at all... updating contents in a web site is really important but nobody can tell how frequently it should be done... the imortant thing is that GG sees updates sometimes and not to keep your site stopped for long time... Rik
You could add 10 pages a day, but if the content carries no value why link to it? You need to focus on something that will hook your users, promote quality content.
I SEO a large site and we add 3-5 news pages every day, I don't think this is causing me any problems. I would say the amount of new content you can add goes hand in hand with how relevant it is and how big your site is. The bigger a site the more likely it is to need fresher content. For example, Ebay gets millions of new pages each week but then it has 100s millions of users.
My page has about 20 or so legitimate pages - I make a news post every week or so, and that's not a new page, that's part of a page with new content. I also rank very well for some decent keywords, one with >5mil results in particular.
Updating your site daily is not also advisable. The older is your post the better. I mean update your site once or twice a week. It is a big tendency that visitors will visit same site content and it's better in terms of crawling the bots on your keyword. The frequent your keyword was crawled the better for your SERP result.
I do a lot of SEO work for my clients and find that as long as the content is relevant to the site, frequency of posting is not an issue. In many cases content has not been updated for many weeks but work has been done on relevant links and keyword placement to get great results. One site with a relatively small amount of content ranks number 2 out of 240 million just below Microsoft! Another site that is used as an experiment is topped up with fresh content every day, but is getting no results at all due to the content being not completely relevant. My thoughts - relevant content in sufficient amounts to create interest, add more good content as available, optimise other factors such as keywords and link strategy and a site will do well Phil
Agreed i also have sites dominating the SERPs and never get pages added. Also adding too many pages "can" shoot you in the foot, because your incoming link authority needs to be distributed between more URLs. With experience you can get a feel on whats too much going by your stats, cache times, backlinks etc. Take DP, it can support a few hundred new pages a day and rank well because of good link equity. If DP had only a dozen backlinks the few hundred pages per day would be basically non-ranking and a complete waste of time for SERPs. Just be practical with content volume, and shoot for quality not numbers.
Two very good reasons to update content often are: 1) Frequent Spider visits 2) More pages and keywords to rank for esp. long tail keywords.
Personally, My site is sitting around 3,000+ pages. I may add 1-5 pages per week, sometimes Only 2-3 per Month (It all depends). A key Element for me is simply providing Quality / Useful content that my viewers like to read & or Use - "Use" equates to Free tools & Free downloads supplied for more interaction & higher repeat / referral rates (Amongst other things) - The Primary Goal being Traffic Vs. Conversions - Which takes a few Key elements, such as Quality content. On a The User end I feel that updated content is Essential to show an active Business / Community, otherwise the viewer gets tired of seeing & reading the same old stuff over & over. On the other end of the spectrum, you can have the same content for a YEAR & it will still rank good in the engines as long as you are still leading in the SEO battle for your Keywords / Phrases / Inbound campaigns / Unique content / Etc., Etc... With the industry being so competitive though, I'm sure someone will assume more authority than you in a few months if you go completely stagnant. This is why MOST SEO's (Well the good ones anyways) will tell you to Optimize for the Potential Consumers First & Foremost - This focuses on Higher Traffic Vs. Conversion Ratio's (The reason we are ALL in business). Then once you are Monetized, Launch your SEM Campaigns, Link Campaigns, Forum Campaigns, Blog Campaigns, Traffic Exchange Campaigns, Social networking Campaigns, RSS Campaigns, Article campaigns, Etc..... Good Luck to you.....
