I have a static webpage for my tutoring business (link below). no blogs, articles, etc. The page is up there to get leads for tutoring for people searching online. Can social bookmarking do anything for me? I understanding the basics of how the biggest 3-5 sites works, but not how to use them to build backlinks to my site. Anyone??? Thanks
Social bookmarking is useful in getting you quality backlinks which boost your search engine ranking ie people find your webpage through the search engines. Create as many social bookmarking accounts as possible at many social bookmarking sites to get as many backlinks as you can. That is how it works. If there are people searching for your service as well in the social bookmarking sites, you get indirect visitors also.
It might be a good idea for you to add a blog on your website. As an idea you could post about some study tips, memory tricks that sort of thing. A large percentage of readership for social bookmarking sites are college aged. You arent likely to gain much traction on any of the big sites with a static page. Create some fresh/interesting/funny content and it'll likely really boost your traffic.
It can increase your traffic, get you some backlinks, but can also knock down your site (if you by a chance get to the first page on digg and if your host can't handle all that traffic increase).
Social bookmarking is definitely the way to go. Do not forget that social networking is yet another good way of getting traffic. Combine those two methods with good article writing and you'll be just fine.
Try it for 30 days. Maybe 90. Really work hard at it. Then come back here and tell us the results. You'll see the reality for yourself.
I just added my site to the best social bookmarketing sites and in my 3rd day i have 300 daily visitors from google and those sites it's pretty good =D http://howimakeafortune.blogspot.com/2007/10/all-best-social-bookmarking-sites.html
So say, I paid an SEO $100 to "socially bookmark my site" what would he do? Anything besides simply submitting?
He would submit your site to the best social bookmar sites.. which i did a yesterday with my site, took like an hour an it's easy =D not worth 100..
I've been on del.icio.us for a year and have never gotten a single direct (searched for on del.icio.us) hit from it, and I'm using dozens of important regular & longtail keywords. However, it has shown up in SERPs, that's what I consider to be the biggest value of that site...it does well on google.
I noticed that I have a PR4 backlink from them, I'm just not sure if it's nofollow or not (doesn't appear to be, with the checker I've used)
