Directories and making blogs with link back to your site. You need to get blog ranked also. You can look for link trades with similar sites also.

Almost all way has mentioned above.If have some budget try buy link from busy (high traffic) related site.
The one thing nobody mentioned: build something of quality worth linking to. It's the easiest and hardest thing to do. One hour of building quality content is surely worth 100 hours of building low quality links from a single domain.
paid press releases with keywords within the text. blogs too. If you do a press release, make sure to get your top keywords in there. some pr services will let you hyperlink within the text to your site using your top keywords.
wow, that's a risky move... After all the discussion about google being on a warpath against paid links, buyer beware...
Google doesn't care one iota whether you buy or sell links, drugs, small arms, or whatever. Just don't let your sold links pass PR. Nofollow them and you're golden.
how about some good links for that one? i mean u can also add ur links to my sites but they are not (yet) highly ranked in google
