If you want pay more attention on the keyword density then it should be less than 5% of the content.

Type "Click here" in google search and you will find Adobe reader download is toped the list. Still there is there is no "Click here" on the page. It is due to millions of download link pointing to that particular link.

It’s all about who your competitors are and how aggressive the keyword market is. You know that keyword density (and overall page relevancy) is one piece of the pie. Study what your competitors are doing, then do them one better!

One more thing: Read your content, if it seems that you are using the same keyword in every other sentence, rewrite it. Content is King, your visitors think so to, what good is traffic if they don’t convert?

There's no specific amount of keywords or "limitations" in using it..The best way is to include the keywords in your content the natural way and if the keyword is necessary to be in a particular part of the content.

As I posted in another post here, use Google's tools in Adwords and get synonyms so you aren't "keyword spamming". Use other words. Keyword density is old school SEO. The key today is being relevant and visitor friendly, trust me the entire internet is moving in that direction.

Writing good content is the key. Seomoz recently wrote that they think keyword density is unimportant. I don't know that I agree with them, but until someone shows you the SE algorithm it's all a guess.

Most seo companies will advise between 4-5% on keyword density, but YOU SHOULD WRITE GOOD CONTENT using the keywords you are trying to target. Use of keywords in the title tag, headers, and links is also important. It's not just how much you use the words, but where you use them as well.

I agree with those who mentioned that the internet (i.e. Google) is moving toward content relevancy. That being said, NEVER spam keywords. The whole point of SEO is getting people to your site. The whole point of getting people to your site is to share information or sell something. They'll hit the back button very fast and ignore your product if there is nothing of quality on the page.

I agree with regalwillaim everything eventually depends on your linking strategies and the amount of back links you get and what is the anchor text used in those links.

Ideal Keyword density is 2-4%. If you maintain this you will see amazing results.

Look at the site at number 1 for your key word and see their key word density then use the same amount on your pages.

You know that the keyword density is ok as Google allready says it is for the site at number 1.
