I am thinking about a revamp and I want to pause AdSense in my site.
Is there a time limit for pausing I should adhere to keep my account
    active?

No, you can take your ads off for a short while without a problem. Too long may lead them inactivating your account though.

What can be the 'short while'?

    I may need 3-6 months.

    Thanks!

In the begginning when I was just starting adsense, I paused with Adsense for about 4 months, and didn't get suspended.
Though, during that pause, I did have about $10 in my account.

what is pausing of adsense i didn't understand anything. If you don't want to work with adsense means just take away the ads from your site. After completing your site then you can put it up.

or just put your adsense id over the ad sharing in DP

you can get some impressions , so this way your account will also be active

I went to europe, and my server went down. No way to reset it until I came back. It was about 3 months and everything was back in order when I turned server on. No issues with Adsense, other than no money for those 3 months.

But to be sure, just open a blog with a link here and I'm sure you will get a few impressions or put your Id in the ad sharing here, like stated above... just so it's not completely blacked outt.
