Hi, Some stupid idiot has copied my site : http://www.mysticky.net, and made theirs, http://www.mystickyz.com. At first I talked to them and they denied copying, but then they gave in. Theres so much evidence against them, look at this : http://www.scriptlance.com/projects/1191759160.shtml?ref=joeldegan Where they mention "we need a site like mysticky. net urgently it must have the same functions carry a backlink in the sticky be updatable ". Is there anything I can do to this guy? He invites me to sue him... I paid $200 for this, and being my age that is months and months of earnings... -Hecky.
That really sucks... hate to see such a nice idea being copied before you could even promote it to the fullest... You have enough proof, do not stop bugging them, I'm sure they'll give in. All the best
He's now trying to bargain... saying what a brilliant idea it was and how we should partner up and split profits 50/50 ...as if I didn't know it was a brilliant idea when I thought it up.
That sucks man.. once some idiot downloaded my forums database (my fault, i got that man wrong) and used it for his own forum.
Contact their host, prove that the site was copied, get their site down & also file in a DCMA complaint against them & report to google.
The easiet way would be to contact his host. Hosts will take sites down in a jiffy to avoid being sued. Then his ISP, then DMCA, then Google, etc.
Unfortunately its happening everywhere more or less. Great ideas is always subject of being on thiefs target
Yeah..if you have a good idea...don't bother unless you have tons of money to develop the script to it's full and advertise tons so theres no chance of competitors. I give up though...waste of months and months earnings .
Well since he only copied the idea & not the source code, this will be really difficult to prove. Can a DCMA be filed? I just realized it.
He hasn't done anything wrong.. yeah, he's copied the idea but theres nothing to say it's your idea. I'm sure many people have thought of something along the lines of this idea before. It wouldn't suprise me if there is a site out there that was made before yours that has the same intention. It's like accusing facebook of copying myspace, or the other way round. Or an arcade saying another arcade copied them..
Well he admitted to copying me, in the end. And using my domain but with a 'z' on the end is just stupid. It's horrible that someone can do this, can't they think up their own ideas and leave me alone?
