The GMail official Blog today posted that they are increasing the pace of the counters so that they can increase the speed of storage being provided to the users.Just now I checked the storage and it has reached to 3154 MB while yesterday it was just 2900 MB. Many sites are also reporting that Google will increase the storage capacity to 4 Gb but it hasn’t been confirmed till yet. Here is what posted on the GMail blog- In April 2005, we started increasing Gmail storage as part of our “Infinity+1″ storage plan. At that time, we realized we’d never reach infinity, but we promised to keep giving Gmail users more space as we were able. That said, a few of you are using Gmail so much that you’re running out of space, so to make good on our promise, today we’re announcing we are speeding up our counter and giving out more free storage. And, just in case you are like my friend Miriam, whose sister sends minute to minute photo updates of her kids in RAW format, then we still have a paid storage program where you can get your fix, and we’re giving you more space than before for the same price. By the way, businesses, schools and organizations using Google Apps to get Gmail on their own custom addresses (like Google does for our @google.com accounts) will get a storage boost in the coming days, too. Standard and Education Edition storage (now at 2GB) will begin matching Gmail’s counter, and Premier Edition users get a whopping 25 GB (up from 10 GB). Source- Tech Today

Well, If I compare GMail to Yahoo then I will give 10/10 mark for Gmail. It is very fast than Yahoo. Also it uses AJAX so that we can see the emails without refreshing the page. (I know the page is refreshing constantly) I have about 6 Gmail accounts and 1 yahoo account. I am using Gmail for all my work Also I have Google Apps for your Doman , for all my websites. GMail is #1 today than Yahoo. Yahoo contains lot of Picture Ads, consumes my bandwidth a lot
Wrong, Gmail loads faster than Yahoo. Also GMail is using AJAX techniques. Its better than Yahoo in all the way And also, Gmail is providing POP3 and SMTP support. I did not hear Yahoo is providing it. Gmail -- > Thumbs UP! Any idea?
Try to subscribe to all those spamming newsletters from the Internet and let those mails catch up with the storing capacity.
Dont waste your time for it. You really don't know Google. Space is not a problem for Google. They have lot of money ! Just think about the Google Search Database, !!
Gmail space can be used for storing your files also! The software is called Gmail Drive GMail Drive is a Shell Namespace Extension that creates a virtual filesystem around your Google Gmail account, allowing you to use Gmail as a storage medium. GMail Drive creates a virtual filesystem on top of your Google Gmail account and enables you to save and retrieve files stored on your Gmail account directly from inside Windows Explorer. GMail Drive literally adds a new drive to your computer under the My Computer folder, where you can create new folders, copy and drag'n'drop files to. Ever since Google started to offer users a Gmail e-mail account, which includes storage space of 2000 megabytes, you have had plenty of storage space but not a lot to fill it up with. With GMail Drive you can easily copy files to your Gmail account and retrieve them again. When you create a new file using GMail Drive, it generates an e-mail and posts it to your account. The e-mail appears in your normal Inbox folder, and the file is attached as an e-mail attachment. GMail Drive periodically checks your mail account (using the Gmail search function) to see if new files have arrived and to rebuild the directory structures. But basically GMail Drive acts as any other hard-drive installed on your computer. You can copy files to and from the GMail Drive folder simply by using drag'n'drop like you're used to with the normal Explorer folders. Because the Gmail files will clutter up your Inbox folder, you may wish to create a filter in Gmail to automatically move the files (prefixed with the GMAILFS letters in the subject) to your archived mail folder.
