I am trying to setup a store and having problems setting up osCommerce.. I have a spare hosting account at Godaddy so that is where I am hosting this. I know very little PHP but I'm great at HTML.. Would someone be willing to give an easy to understand walkthrough on settin gup osCommerce?

Is there an easier free option?

    THanks!

Oscommerce should have an install file to follow. I have previously installed zencart without knowing about php.

What error messages are you getting? What kind of hosting are you using? Have you tried OS support forum, they've got one of the best support forums out there :). I've set up a few OScommerce sites. Maybe I can help.

I am hosting through Godaddy.. I just get a page not found error when I try to install.. I go to www.mydomain.com/catagory/install/ and get the error. I honestly do not understand a thing about databases. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!!

I had problems trying to host osCommerce on Godaddy. Godaddy is awesome for domains, but their hosting is lacking (at least when I tried using them back in the day.) If you are new to osCommerce, I've found it is much easier to have a host that has Fantastico. You can install osCommerce with a click of a button.

I use php admin on godaddy.
I uploaded oscommerce into different sites that are hosted at godaddy with no problem using ftp client.

It's on linux hosting, I didn't have to do anything at godaddy site other than create mysql database for the oscommerce. The rest of it is a walk through in your browser :)

Make sure your install file is chmod permission accessible. Otherwise it may not show up for you.

    Try this path
    yoursite.com/catalog/install/install.php
    or
    yoursite.com/install/install.php

Godaddy didn't have Fantastico when I was using them at as a host. I don't remember what the problem was, but I left Godaddy hosting specificlly because I was having problems with osCommerce on there servers.

Maybe it was just me. :)
