Personally I dont think there is anything whatsoever inherently evil or devilish about Halloween. It is a fun holiday that has nothng to do with religion one way or the other.

However, I have been told by a few others that Halloween is evil and the observance of it is akin to devil worship.

I am interested to know what others think about this.

    Is Halloween inherently evil?

It's gotta be evil. You have kids dressing up like Ballerinas and super heroes, begging for candy.

It's like the people under US occupation high on acid.

I think that it's a load of bollocks, just like Christmas is.

My favorite painting of Jesus is called "The Laughing Jesus." Look it up on the net. Boy,He loved children. Why not let them BE children. Why do we INSIST on projecting our madness upon them?

No. It's a holiday to load up on candy and watch girls wear short skirts like Elvira. It's not some thing where you walk around trying to burn down houses and be sinful to others.

AGS,,, You know what makes me laugh? and this is not about you, but rather about "conservative" Christians who fancy themselves "fundamental" Christians. They get all pissed off all year long about God being stripped from the court-houses, etc, then Christmas comes along, the ONE DAY of the year where kids can have fun and also hear of Him. THIS they hate!

God must be laughing His butt off at us all!

We need consensus on this. Let's get Mel Gibson drunk and ask him how he really feels about Halloween.

    WHAAA???

I will share something funny with everyone. I have a paranormal website that is about ghosts and supernatural type stuff - (see recent blog link above) - Recently I put up a page about the history and origins of Halloween. One of my visitors clicked the contact link and informed me that I was going to go to hell because I had that on my site! Of course I replied back to him that the page was only information. YES I do believe in God but NO I do not believe Halloween has anything to do with the 'devil'

EDIT --- I just noticed something kind of ironinc - When I started this thread I had 666 rep points! Uh-Oh! maybe it is evil! Just kidding 666 is just a random number

Amen, Rebecca, unless it was to some 63 year old diabetic and you were hoping for an inheritance. let children be children, and God be God.

Incidentally, Mel Gibson is an actor and a director. And a damn good one on both counts. He apparently is all screwed up in his head in real life, just like the rest of us. To ban his wonderful movies, etc, because of his personal challenges is to grant far more weight to his very status as an actor an director than he deserves. He's just a guy with a very special talent. I couldn't care less what he or his father thinks about anything.

Once in a while we go to the movies. That's when I give a shit... about the movie. Never more. He could hate dust for all I care. He ain't paying my bills, anymore than a six year old cares about dispensation.

If it was just about candy it would be ok. Even though I generally happen to think that parents instead of spending time with their children these days use gifts as an excuse.

Why do you have to have the occultic influences in a "kids" event?

in the UK halloween never was a big deal until 'trick or treating' from the US caught on over here. before that it was just a time when people would tell spooky stories or dunk for apples. it is november 5th bonfire night when the brits really go large, with no sleep until the wee hours due to fireworks the size of missiles causing seismic shocks to the neighbourhood, and life size effigies of blair, brown, and bush, being hurled on bonfires.
    bloody good fun!
