Value of an eBay Account?

    Hi,

I would love to get some DP opinions on the value of an eBay seller's account. For example, I have an eBay seller's account that has over 10,000 feedbacks all of which are Positive (not one Negative or Neutral Feedback).

    Thoughts?

I really have no idea and I would suspect that this goes against eBay's terms of service. Having said that though, there is guy here on DP who is willing to pay $50 to $100 for an eBay account. Perhaps that will give you some sort of an idea?

I know it probably isn't the best indicator of an account's value but hey, it's a start ;)

If this is yours, you will get 1000$ without any problem but the only one who will be willing to pay this amount is a scammer because he can make MUCH more money with it within shortest time. But you will get the trouble then. If it is a phished one you will get 20$ because the owner will realize within shortest time that his account got hacked. Also it is forbidden of course.

It is my account and taking over the account would be part of buying the entire business from me. I am just trying to figure out the value of the various components. The price for the total business would likley preclude most scammers, because they would have to actually work the business to extract the real value of it. Though it is an issue that I would have to watch out for.

    Translation:

For an account such as this; I can't see any legitimate businesses purchasing it however certain unscrupulous characters may considering renting it. You can expect that such individuals would pay around $30 per calendar month but this is of course dependent on where you obtained your feedback. If this feedback was originally obtained via selling something of little value; for example an eBook, you can only ever expect a much lower monthly fee.

I understand the issues of scammers and the potential perils of trying to sell an eBay account to someone else. That is really not my intent.

What I am considering doing is selling my entire business which is an ecommerce website that also sells on eBay and Amazon. The Amazon Merchant account is good to have, but has not yet turned into a big sales channel for us. However, on eBay, we are going great and I am just trying to figure out how much such a strong eBay presence with 10,000+ positive feedbacks should add to the value of my entire business as the new buyer will be taking over everything, including the eBay account. My point is that I think that the value of the account is more than just the amount of revenues that it is producing and that there is additional value from the feedbacks alone, because you have instant credibility with the eBay marketplace.

But, based upon the comments to date in this thread, I may be over-valuing this piece of the business.

1997, that is exactly my thinking. There are quite a few businesses selling what I sell but have no web presence whatsoever. For them, my ecommerce website, my eBay account, my Amazon account, etc., will add value beyond the traditional valuation for a business based on revenues/profits. The trick, of course, is to find these guys as they are not on the web by definition.

What products are you selling? Why you are selling this business if it generates profit?

The company sells network and PC cables and other such supplies. Most of my career has been spent building up start-up companies, mostly in the software arena. The cable company has grown dramatically, is in the black, but needs someone who can concentrate on it to take it to the next level. Right now, I am focused on a few other start-ups that are taking quite a bit of my time. So, I am considering selling it, but I could decide to keep slowly working at it as it is self-funding.

One of the reasons that I have 10,000+ positive feedbacks (100%) is that I have only sold high quality products that I know about and stock myself. This allows me the control to make sure that every customer is completely satisfied. Of course, there are businesses that specialize in selling other people's products on eBay and even storefronts that cater to walk-ins who wish to sell something on eBay. But I have no experience with this approach to eBay and would not likely want to get into it.

I offer the seller service by this way:

    1. I need to know if the item is used or new?
    2. The description of the item.
    3. What is the lowest price that you want to get from it?
    4. You have to send me the money for the insertion fee first, and as soon as I sell your item I will pay with that money, for the final value fee, and any other fee that I have to pay.
    5. As soon as I sell your item I am going to send you the address where do you have to send it.
    6. As soon as I am notice that the item is received from the buyer I will give you your money of the selling. Less my commission.
    7. Finally I need to know if you prefer that I give you your money through paypal or a check.

Nota: We can work about my commission, but I think that the best way is on depends the price I sell the item you pay me a percent of that. Example.

    30 you give me $---
    250 you give me $---
    5.000 you give me $---
    Etc.
