Hi, Firstly, I'm a newbie at this sort of thing, but I am trying hard and have been trying to make my site (trophy link in my sig) more SEO friendly but.... I've used page ranking estimator tools and I appreciate that you shouldn't rely on them and they're only a guide, but it's saying that we don't have enough links for Google to recognise us. I must have submitted my site to hundreds of directories and have had the confirmation email saying that it's been accepted and I'm pretty sure it was long enough ago for Google to update and recognise them, but it doesn't seem to be. I've just been on a backlink watch site and there's nearly 200 links for us, but most are coming from forum signatures and stuff like that, there's only 9 links that have PR from them so where's all the others that I've submitted to? On the plus side, I've managed to get my Alexa ranking down from 7.9m to 2.6m. Again, I appreciate this is only a rough guide, but my aim is to get around 1m which would just be under our competitors who appear in the natural listings at the top of the page. Ironically, some silly proxy server I set up a few months ago has an Alexa ranking of 500kish, I was amazed that it's doing better than my main site that's been going ages! Any pointers appreciated.
Although it is very frustrating, unfortunately, there is no way of speeding up the process but try to be patient and I am sure you will find that your efforts will pay off.
To get page rank means you must get atleast 1000 quality backlinks for your site. If you site only 200 backlinks means google will not recognise your page rank. So try to get more than 1000 quality backlinks.
So I'm on the right lines, that's some good news. Didn't realise it was 1000 links, I'll get back to work Thanks
Hi again, One more thing, The people offering to put articles on 100 blogs for few bucks in the forum, are the links from those helping my site in the listings?
the amount of people that come to a certain site may also effect PR, i noticed on my directory i only have around 300 active backlinks now, and on nationsubmit.com has around 650.. In google webmaster tools my directory PR on the bar is higher then nationsubmit. Differences: Fesu 150 visitors a day 4 months old domain 300 backlinks better pr rating in google webmaster tools nationsubmit 20 visitors a day 5 months old domain 676 backlinks lower pr rating then site above
Sorry, one other thing I'm getting lots of blog posts from a few people, this is going to sound a bit of a silly question, but does it matter that these sites are mainly US based and mine is UK based?
