Ok to transfer content from an unindexed blog?

    Hi,

I have an old blog in Blogger that never got indexed and which I lost all interest in... and left for dead. Some months ago they were in supplemental, but now, totally not indexed at all. Reason because I never attached a single incoming link to them, it's a wonder they are still running today, considering Google would have closed them.

I guess it is because...it is actually a very good blog, with about 10 posts totally unique and high quality. Each post took hours to write. Guess I was a perfectionist then..

My question is - Is it okay to copy all the content from the old blog and repost on a new independent domain and then try and get some links in? Otherwise it would be a big waste of all my effort last time.

So would Google recognize this new blog as a totally new blog and give me search engine rank since that old blog is not even in the Google index AFAIK. Or Google has some secret cache and will remember even this content and then consider that as duplicate content?

After I transfer all those posts, I want to carry on blogging new stuff on this domain of mine and just carry on where I left off a long time ago.

    What do you think?

If it is dead then it is better to close the site after transfering content :)

Yes, if it wasn't indexed you should be fine with using its content.

How is he going to prove it is his content if someone else copied it?

As I understand it, it's his content, but it was never indexed. If it were not indexed there is no risk of a duplicate content penalty.

He could then do what he wants and move it over to a different domain. No problem what so ever.

    <edit>

I think I see your point. For them to be in the supplemental index, the content would need to be viewed as very similar to other content, thus be considered duplicate content, meaning he copied it from another source possibly.

If there is no record of this content and it's yours, then you should be fine. Otherwise, if it's identifiably the same as someone else's, do not use that content without permission and/or reference to the original author.

If it is yours, don't worry about it. You should be fine.

I wrote everything there myself. That's why it took hours to write something useful. But due to my not getting a single inbound link, the blog went into supplemental, and then out of the index, lol.

Or maybe someone else copied it, that's why it went into supplemental? I tried using Copyscape, but Copyscape told me that the Google API wasn't responding, possibly due to the blog not being in the index.

So I'm in circle, whether it's ok to use the content from that old blog of mine or is better I write something afresh? That would take lots of hours again, lol.

Try searching for sentences and paragraphs with your content. If you can't find any variations of it, then I'd say go for re-publishing it. It's your stuff. You should be fine.

You can do that but you must do minor changes.
