I'm not sure about how well this will work, sure people will check out the Video but I assume we don't get paid until someone actually clicks the link under the video and is taken to the site. I don't think many people are going to do that, first they are only interested in watching the video, second the links are lost in the surroundings, third they aren't interested in whatever is being promotted anyway, they are interested in the video. CPC ads in the frame with the video and at the top in a corner doesn't scream 'Great CPC Ad spots". Revver has it as post roll (seems more likely someone would click that imo) and now has a pre-roll CPM ad for some vids. Metacafe is CPM. Videoegg who partners with hi5 and dogster etc., has ads on a CPM model I believe. This program is a little too weird for me. You can't pick the exact videos you want. How is that competitive at all with the video-advertising landscape? I think it's better to go with video ad companies that put ads in noticeable and prime spots. It's almost like google doesn't want people to click these ads. I have been looking through the videos ..... the more I see the less I like it, it looks like it has been thrown together by a novice, not a company whose market cap increased by $25billion in the last month .... the term "what were they thinking' comes to mind .... and as for the videos, they are absolute crap.
Been messing around with this as well... I absolutely agree with Cyclops. This doesn't seem like it's going to do very well. A 1-week test won't hurt though.
I guess we will find out if its worth anything quite soon, also I guess mr G will be tweaking it along the way.
Just put it on one of my pages to check it out and they are big I went with the middle size and it takes up half a page. They have ads on the top and bottom of the video. I think this could work if the videos are related to your site content. My travel site is getting a food fight video If you can use your own videos that are on U tube then you could control content.
I HAVE THE FOOD FIGHT VID NOW TOO!! you get payed from click both on top of ad and on bottom. not from plays. and they are big, mine is smallest availble, link up there ^^ TalkDelaware.
this won't work unless they let you choose the videos yourself, right now only select videos are available and the targeting is not that great, better off using the you tube API, and putting google ads around the you tube video for now.....
This is a good thread that I will watch. I agree with Cyclops thoughts and will hold off before jumping into this. I once had a video blog that got lot's of traffics but very few adsense clicks, this seems like more of that.
bad idea, because it is a violation of both the youtube and adsense terms of service, and the copyright owners of the youtube videos did not give you permission to make money off of their content. we can only hope that youtube gets a clue, and starts bringing in some more content to this program.
