I need a website something like this one http://www.bladeztoyz.co.uk/ I am waiting for a quantity of radio controlled helicopters and cars to arrive from China. The helicopters are the same brand as shown in the website but they are newer models. Could I make a website similar to this using a template ? it must have a shopping cart. I can use my own photos. I dont have a large range of products which is why it will be similar to the one above. 2 models of helicopters plus a car plus a range of spares. Would I be able to host a site like this with http://www.123-reg.co.uk/web-hosting/ on there £1.85 p/month package ? Can anyone help ? I need it in the next few weeks.
First do not use 123-reg they are a shower of bastards. Secondly I can set this all up for you if you're willing to pay, you're unlikely to find a template suitable for this.
Hi What about netfirms for hosting, I have 2 domains with them. Will the free basic hosting package that comes with domains have enough space for a simple site ? What do you recommend ? How much would charge me to build me a site something like the one I listed ? Ive only 3 main models and then spares to list. I am a novice when it comes to this stuff, I cant even work out how to lauch my free basic hosting site. Regards Andy
123-reg are great for domains but wouldnt touch them for hosting - likewise would always have domains and hosting with separate companies incase the relationship goes sour you only have one to move not both resulting in shorter outage. http://www.csnewmedia.com are an exceptional hosting company for shared hosting who always go the extra mile You could make a site with a template and something like OsCommerce though clearly the site that you have referenced is much more focused towards the product in question than a template will able to be and to be honest I would have suggest that this will work better for such a small catalogue of items. Prices will range from anything £75 (have seen plenty offer at this price) to £3,000+ depending on if it is a freelancer or a company, which country they are from etc - whilst you dont always get what you pay for dont simply go for the lowest price you can get as there are great ranges in skill levels between peoples/ companies claiming to be web developers. If this is a serious business then remember that this could be your main method of contact with potential customers.
http://www.csnewmedia.com looks good to me. I just need somebody to give me a quote on making the website. A uk based freelance designer would be better for me. If anyone out there lives near Doncaster. Yorkshire then that would be even better, we could meet up.
I can help with a fully SEO'd oscommerce site, design and hosting on my own dedicated server. cheap too. PM me if interested in seeing a portfolio of sites i have done.
We arent freelancers, we dont use oscommerce as we are .Net rather than PHP developers and we wont be as cheap as a freelancer will be as companies naturally have higher overheads than individuals esp those that are not full time and so do it for spending money rather than their main income. However we can provide greater support than those part time freelancers. We are UK based in South London - meetings are not out of the question but traveling expenses need to be covered. If you want us to quote then if you can provide your specifications and rough budget we can tell you what we can do for you.
Well, I'd say first things first - don't use a template. You don't want your site to look exactly like a few dozen others out there! Secondly, I'd have a look around for reputable developers who can build a site for you from scratch. Things to check when hiring a dev: 1. Make sure they don't use templates themselves. Otherwise, you may as well do it yourself - building a site from a template is less than an hour's work. 2. Make sure they don't lock you into their hosting. I went to see some folks in Chester today who'd been ripped off by their designers - they built an E-commerce website from a template, made the customer insert their own products, and charged them £450 for the privelage. Even more obscenely, they then expected him to pay three hundred pounds a year for hosting. 3. Always look for testimonials, a portfolio site hosted on a proper domain name (anything that sounds spammy like super-cheapwebsites-4u-2day.com should be avoided) and a good command of written English. If they confuse "your" with "you're," or "it's" with "its," or "there" with "they're" or "there," they will make your company look horribly unprofessional and untrusthworthy. 4. I'm too new here to post links, but feel free to check out my site at stainless-design dot co dot uk. I'm based in Cheshire, if that's any help. 5. Even if you don't commission me for a project, take heed of what I've said above.
