Recently I used aaron walls link harvester tool www.linkhounds.com/link-harvester/ to have a look at my main competitors backlinks. I googled my main term and used the top 10 results in link harvester. It brought back a list of all backlinks to those sites, including .edu, .gov, .ac.uk etc, basically all the 'authority' links as well as your regular backlinks. I figured, hey, if they can get links on .edu sites I might as well give it a go. I spent an hour or so finding contact info for these .edu pages, wrote a nice, personalised complementary email saying basically if you think my site is worth it please add my link. Didn't think anything of this until today when I was checking my backlinks, who would have thought - 2 backlinks from different .edu's! So, if you have an hour or 2 to spare its well worth a try and you may well be surprised with the results as i was!
good tip. I e-mailed a couple .edu and .gov webmasters to see if they were interested in adding our link. do you think that .edu and .gov actually weigh in more when Google counts the links?
Sleep? Sleeping is a waste of time to me...same with eating, I have much better things to be doing....oh my :/
Great link Tiptopvillas, I've bookmarked that site and now I got to work on a nice letter, fingers crossed I will have some luck
Thanks It saved many hard working hours for link exchanging for me. Nice tool there. Keep it coming we all are waiting for this kind of stuff.
I've used link harvester for quite sometime now. It is, most def. a great tool. It finds links in a jiffy!
Just to add to tiptops tip and along the same lines - google has a complete listing of universities at ... http://www.google.com/options/universities.html You can search each individual university for your topic/keyword and find all sorts of goodies. Much of what I found for my topic was on individual student pages and professor pages. Kinda neat ... Also thought, hey if we paid each student 25 cents to place a link on their individual pages we would be set cheers Frank
Interesting strategy tiptop!~ thanks for sharing. The trouble when you target student pages is that - once they graduate your link is all over.... - perhaps target the clubs?
