Hm so i noticed godaddy is selling .com now for 10.19$ Thats a huge 1.04$ increase knowing that ICAN increased prices only about 43 cents... Lets take namecheap for example - they increased prices only to 9.29$ from 8.88$ And what more - godaddy has the prices now while namecheap and others will start only from October 14th. What do you think? Who will register their names at godaddy now
No one ! GoDaddy is sucks and their e-mail support is very SUCKSSS they copy and paste from help pages and reply after 2 days ...
I see $9.99 pricing at GoDaddy. One week in advance won't make much difference to GoDaddy in the long run. There is a "lead foot" effect in domaining and most people renew or get new domains with their existing registrar rather than transfer. I suspect that when the dust settles the registrars will maintain their existing relative pricing to one another. EDIT - yes, you are right: $10.19 = $9.99 + ICANN fee
well It is like namecheap for example has much better reputation then godaddy but NC domains were more expensive than GD ( and with coupon codes as well). So many went to godaddy because of the smaller price. Now when namecheap is cheaper I think many would love to go there thus lost customers for GD
Coupons its not really the topic of the thread. I was interested what do you think about their move to become more expensive registrar than their big competitors which in addition has better reputation. Thats not the best marketing strategy in my humble opinion.
Like, say, Network Solutions which still charges $34.99 a year? Every business has the right to adjust their prices depending on various things or so, especially those they have little to no control over. What they're doing might not be considered the so-called "best marketing strategy", but you can bet they're doing what they think is best for their business. If you don't agree with them, don't do business with them. Simple as that.
what is your problem lol It was supposed to be a discussion and I was just interested whaty do others think. You could go to some marketing discussion forum where people talk about marketing ideas and say - Stop, lets close the forum, companies do what ever they wanna do and there is no need to talk about that. Common man its what a discussion means. Network solutions? Who cares if they charge 35$ lol its the whole different biz model and not the straight cmpetitors.
Godaddy is like the Microsoft of domain services, they can basically do whatever they want. Judging from their superbowl ads, they have no business problems as it is.
I suppose discussion on a topic where the answers are staring right in front of our faces doesn't hurt for some. Very well, carry on.
I am in the middle of a cafe surfing dp and found this post and it that had me in stitches! I have about 20 domains with godaddy due to buying them off digital point users (I generally use enom.com) and have never had to email them for tech support but I may think twice now.
There is no 1 answer in front of our faces. Different people has different oppinions and the point of discussion is to share them
GoDaddy is costly, but as long as they have coupon codes available I will use them You can get a .COM for $7.15 which is not too shabby...
And we must remember that godaddy makes more money with hosting et al .. and offers domain registration at 1.99 along with any non domain registration purchase ... despite increase in the price!!!
godaddy is pricey at times, not good if you need a ton of domains, but their support and control panel are nice
