    Hi,

could someone tell me if it worths the extra money to pay for a private domain !? It is a important thing to look for when registering a domain ? And for all the posts i've seen here, i think i'll go for Namecheap for registering a domain name and goin' to Hostgator for...hosting. What's your opinion about this two choices.

And besides the above newbie question... here it goes another really, really newbie question:

Once i get a Host provider ... i can put there all my websites (with different domain names) in there right? The limit is the disk space right?

    Thx. :)

Private registration is used to reduce spam and/or if you don't want your name and address associated with a site - maybe its an adult or political site. I have numerous sites without private WHOIS and my email address has not been spammed. I do occasionally get bogus renewal offers in my home's mailbox.

Some hosting providers and plans allow multi-domains on one account and some don't. It depends what you buy. Hostgator has single & multi domain plans. I don't have experience with Hostgator but often cheap plans result in overcrowded or oversold servers and slow speeds.

you get free private domains at namecheap.com.

I don't want people to see my name / address online, so I use it.

    Thx for your reply GMROCKS...

But would that interfer with our Site, Page rank? i mean... what we want is traffic to our site so we can go up in the ranks  . With this option ON...would the spiders ( i think is this name) of the SE "see" my" page aswell?

Well namecheap gives first free years privacy so why not. But privacy is such a thing.... If you don't think you need it, than you don't need it :)

As for hosting yes you can host all your domains on one account ( you may check my sig)

basicly you need not traffic but backlinks or links to your site from other sites. Many good linkbacks=better ranks and good pagerank

thx for your reply super :)

The more i dig into the host "scene" the more confused i get

My knowledge of web hosting are ...none :( . I just want some reliable host without hidden fees, and stuff like that, ... so i can through my niche sites and concentrate on the site himself...not spendig my time with host support.

Guess my best shot is to... try one for a month and see how it goes..:p

Private WHOIS does not affect spiders or search engine ranking - it just hides ownership information.
