    Some of the players that consider themselves big had dropped pr recently. I was checking this morning some of the using the pagerank tool from iweb and I saw that some of these directories dropped from 6 to 5, an some have even 0 on the domain.com, without the www.
    Have you came across this, or am I suffering of paranoia?

    Some have dropped, but it's your paranoia(for the most part). :)

    remember it's good practice to 301 perm redirect the domain.

    ex:

    mysite . com ---> forwards to ---> www . mysite . com
    or
    www . mysite . com ---> forwards to mysite . com

    like if you try going to directorydump . com it will 301 redirect to the www . directorydump . com

    O.k I don't really understand why it works like that

    Why do we have to do it instead of search engine (for example). What' the purpose behind if any.

    Should be - but it's not the same.
    If you select option for www in webmaster tools your site should appear with www in G search results, but it still will be possible to access it without www which I'm sure many wish to avoid.
    So it's better to do 301 redirection (I'm using it too).

    If you need fast 35 DC checking (all live) you can use my small tool instead of IWeb

    This is an age old problem with search engines that they have never been able to fully figure out. Duplicate content, etc, etc.... The reason you have to do it is because it's your web site(s).
