All our percentages might have been cut. The Big G might be taking a higher percentage now. Remember - they are revenue sharing too
same thing is happening to me and i have a topic different than autos. my traffic is doubled but my revenue has been split in half. it may be smart pricing but for now i am reassuring myself by saying that ad competition is temporarily down. hopefully it will go back up.
I did for a few days. Seems to have improved. May depend on what's being advertised. A lot of people visit my Oregon and photograph pages - peripheral stuff on my site. Some ads are for holiday and vacation stuff. I guessed that some folks may drastically drop their bids for ads as soon as a season ends - say when summer vacationing really draws to a close. That could explain some of it.
Mine is down about 40% right now too, but with some digging I can figure out the cause. Looking at the surface, I see just about as many clicks, similar CTR, but a 40% drop in revenue. It looks shocking until I figured out why. I dropped for my best keyword from about #7-8 to #12 (page 2). This has caused about a 10% drop in traffic. That traffic is by far my best revenue generating. In the past when this happened, I saw the same thing happen with AdSense. Once the ranking climbed back up, the revenue came with it. Maybe it's something similar for you.
What you are probably seeing is advertisers seeing which sites are not productive, and cutting their spend for your sites or blocking your sites from displaying ads. Automotive advertising online is bound to be a heavily scrutinized arena... as it is nearly impossible to sell a vehicle online... so for auto ads the onus is to drive online to offline. You should also realize the other aspect auto advertisers would look for is lead generation, and if you're not supplying quality leads, they'll be gone. Peace!
I have the same thing usually, 2 good weeks, one bad, 3 good weeks, 2 bad months. You can't do nothing with that, it's a matter of ads - advertisers may have some financial problems, or some of them quit AdWords, that's all. I have a website which is earning about 0,2$ for 10 clicks every day since one year. Yesterday it earned 5$ for 5 clicks, today it's 2$ for 5 clicks. I'm shocked ! There's also much higher eCPM so i believe that there are finally good Ads
There are indeed advertisers who learn what works best. For some businesses Tuesday is the best day for earnings. Some it is Fridays that earnings work best. I have sites I advertise Monday thru Friday and the weekends I turn off campaigns. On other sites I advertise them only in the afternoon and evenings, as my target market is in school during the mornings and in bed late night. Some sites I double the ad spend on the weekends. Some I don't. I do the same thing with clients & partners as well. Advertisers decisions will effect publisher income and why publishers need to have a several methods of earning revenues. Peace!
Apparently something is going on with the AdSense because I have the same "problem" in my blogs. For example: Thursday, October 4, 2007 - 2036 page impressions, 73 clicks, $3.22 Friday, October 5, 2007 - 2075 page impressions, 127 clicks, $5.14. That makes ~4 cents/click. WTH is going on with the Google? I should make at least $20-30 more.
Am I the only one who's income from Adsense is 3 or 4 times bigger? It's true that after the 20th of September the page impressions doubled, but the earnings increased 3-4 times...
There are a lot of people who are suffering lower income but there will also be people who will have seen their income improve. There are numerous factors innolved and it is not just about smart pricing... SEM Advance pointed out some of the reasons. People have to be aware that advertisers on adwords have their own agenda - to improve their ROI. So if you site appears on their radar as a poor converting site, your site will likely get removed from having that advertisers adverts appearing on your site. Added to this, a 'credit crunch' and the traditional lower level of spending in september - all affecting adsense publishers. Many are worse off, but some will be better off. All you can really do is try and focus on improving your existing site and looking at diversification for improving the ad revenue.
I just visited: Reports > Site Diagnostics section from the Adsense main menu and I found this: Blocked URL http:/ / www. arcor. de/ ums/ ums_maillesen. jsp? aktion= attachherunterladen&ordnername= Posteingang&umid= 3937&part= 0_1&sortieren= datume Reason blocked: Robots.txt File I don't speak German, never visited this site and I DON'T have this Robots.txt file. Any ideas?
This used to happen to me all the time. A few years back i realised i can not rely just on Adsense for my income. Infact now days Adsense only makes 10% or so of my net profit. Sucks, i used to make a bong out of it pre-smart pricing.
