If they were Christians, she would live.

"Let the one who has no sins cast the first stone."

This sentence to death by stoning shows again that humanity and Islam are worlds apart.
(Anyway she was sentenced to be stoned because that's what the Quran says.)

    (I am not condoning adultery.)

Well, Adultery is sick espically if you have children on you as well!

She deserves a good punishment, but Stoning is really taking it a step to far :(!

No point of her having sex with another person, when married with children anyway!

Rubbish mate, I suggest you read the Bible better, because it clearly states in the Bible, those who comit Adultery should be killed. Jesus actually said "Let the one who has no sins cast the first stone." So he actually went against his own religion there.

Not trying to be racist or anything, but correcting you!

If they were Christians and their laws was based on Bible then she would die too. adultery is punishable by death in Bible.

Luckily our countries have advanced so far that we do not believe in stupid religion rules and put people to death for such reasons but USA is still executing people for other reasons.

While Iranian have the right to have their own laws, death penalty is morally wrong and it should be forbidden for all crimes in any civilized country.

Are we sure that this is a muslim woman that will be stoned, you have some screwed up religious people in the northern Iran that are using stoning, they are not muslims and they dont use that insane sharia law. Like that girl that was stoned in April, the ones that stoned her was from that group. I dont remember the name of that religious group.

Deuteronomy 22:22 is in the old testament. It seems we have forgotten to read a bit further....

    John 8:3-11

3The teachers of the law and the Pharisees brought in a woman caught in adultery. They made her stand before the group 4and said to Jesus, "Teacher, this woman was caught in the act of adultery. 5In the Law Moses commanded us to stone such women. Now what do you say?" 6They were using this question as a trap, in order to have a basis for accusing him.

But Jesus bent down and started to write on the ground with his finger. 7When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, "If any one of you is without sin, let him be the first to throw a stone at her." 8Again he stooped down and wrote on the ground.

9At this, those who heard began to go away one at a time, the older ones first, until only Jesus was left, with the woman still standing there. 10Jesus straightened up and asked her, "Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?"

    11"No one, sir," she said.
"Then neither do I condemn you," Jesus declared. "Go now and leave your life of sin."

    Matthew 5:17-18

"Do not think that I [Jesus] have come to abolish the Law (the Old Testament) or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke or a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law (the Old Testament) until everything is accomplished.

    Matthew 23:1-3

"Then Jesus said to the crowds and to his disciples: 'The teachers of the law and the Pharisees sit in Moses' seat. So you must obey them and do everything they tell you. But do not do what they do, for they do not practice what they preach.'

It is clear that New Testament confirms the laws of Old Testament.

That Jesus guy was one confused dude, changing his mind every minute.:D

May be the reason that new testament is such a contradictory document is because this guy, Jesus never existed and new testament is nothing but rambling of different individuals. :D

That shows exactly how much knowledge and understanding of Christianity you have.

Muslims always love to bring some excuses from the "Bible". Conveniently for them bypassing the Teaching of Jesus.
You muslims never want to talk about Jesus since there is nothing wrong with His teaching and there is nothing immoral in His deeds.
You never want to compare the deeds of Muhammad with these of Jesus.
And you're right. You can't compare the Sun with the Moon. You can't compare the light with the darkness.

The life of a woman in your muslim countries is so miserable, like this of dog on a leash who can never make a step without the permission of his master.

Your muslim clerics are an example of what humanity should not accept.
After your Friday prayers instead of becoming peaceful you resort to violence. AND THIS COMES FROM YOUR RELIGIOUS FIGURES.
Not politicians like Bush or Clinton.

You have fallen so much behind civilization, you don't even realize it.

I am not a Muslim but I would like to talk about Jesus with you. How about you start with showing one historical proof that this dude even existed? :D

Trying to have control over others sex-life is the first step towards religious radicalism. The moment religion, be it Islam or Christianity, begins to dictate others sexual behavior, things begin to get messed up.
I believe in completely eradicating influence of religion from the justice and politics of every country in the world. We do not need to rely on the knowledge and teachings of people who were born centuries ago and have no awareness of our current lifestyle. Islam, Christianity, Hinduism- all religions are useless.
But at the same time I strongly disapprove of attacking any nation to impose our ideology on it. Let the initiative for change come from inside and let the change happen slowly.
My apologies to those who feel offended by my thoughts.

Kudos, Dude, for your thoughts! These Christian radicals are not any better than Islamic terrorists. Only morons can fight in the name of religion. Jesus, Mohammed, Buddha etc were nothing more than cunning smart guys who knew how to fool the crowd into believing that they are closer to God than the others around them.
I think their opinions and influences benefitted their communities in those days (because people were so stupid that they could only be controlled in the name of God) but their teachings and opinions are extremely outdated and unnecessary in the modern times.

Actually, this thread is discussing ISLAM, the holy religion of peace, and it's kind practices such as stoning women to death.

There are plenty of threads here for you to take shots at other religions. This thread just happens to be about isalm.

This thread is about supporting any measures available via petition to condone stoning, religion in this case isn't subjected directly to islam there are many other beliefs and countries that use stoning as a punishment and not every time it has been linked to adultery.

Stoning is way passed it use by date and regardless of the convicted crime it should be eradicated..

In this particular thread I was referring to stoning that is sentenced down by the Iranian government. I think I remember the other group you are referring to, it is the yazidi (think that is spelled right) religious group. They actually hate the muslims and the muslims hate them. The family of the yazidi girl stoned her because she dated or married a muslim boy. Then in retaliation, the muslims killed a busload of people.
