Hi, I was wondering if its good to use textlinkads for my directories? Anyone has any experience with it. Can I generate some bucks from it? Thanks
Your right mikey but I made many threads regarding sitewide sponsor listing in my directories in here and some other forums but not even a single sale, so that is why I thought to go for TLA.
TLA members probably wont be interested... The DP members who buy sitewide links for their directory dont check the link sales forum, they are too busy. Buy the sitewide sponsor mod for phpLD and you should start earning some $$$
We run TLA on a niche directory and get about $125/month from it. It's nice, you don't have to track links or anything like that. However, you don't get to determine how much to charge, etc. Try the mod that Mikey pointed out first, if you don't get any results from that, then you may want to try the TLA. However, it will probably work best if you have a niche directory.
Give us a link to the ads and I bet we can tell you why you did not sell any I have used that mod and it is good, but it won't help much in selling the ads you gotta do that.
jg123 here is the thread link http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=505058 And i will try that mod
IMO your listing prices are very high, I had 4 different PR5 directories, all with custom templates and all of them had lower submission costs than your directory has. That is just an observation and as for your site-wides I think you are also too concerned with milking every penny from them. $6 for 1-month and $12 for 2-months, I would never contact you. I buy links usually for a minimum of 3-6 months and I always expect a discount. The competition for PR3 and lower links is huge and I can often find a run-of-the-mill PR3 link for $25-$35 a year. I think you are too caught up in 'predicted page rank' and you are thinking that you don't want to sell any long-term deals at low prices and then see your page rank rise. If you want to sell some site-wides and start generating income then you need to offer longer-term deals. If I was you I would be happy with 6-months for $18, then you can re-evaluate your prices when they come up for renewal and in the meantime you could invest the money you make in a custom template and that would help folks realize you are a serious directory owner. good luck
This is only script destinated for phplinkdirectory which can help and make preety easy administration of text ads and/or banners without additional costs. However $$ success always depends on web site value, traffic and all factors tha can attract potential advertisers.
I have got good results from text link ads using on my many sites, but they work great if you have targetted niche based websites.
I have never had good results with Text Link Ads, But about TLA, they require you to put a file in the root directory of the page you are going to put the ad on, so it makes it hard to put sitewide links...
