What do you guys think are more profitable? Blogs or forums? I'd go with forums on this one because they tend to generate more pageviews and if you have a good CPM advertising company you can make a lot.

I have made more with forums. But they are very high maintenance.

What do you mean by "high" maintenance?

Well, up until they take off by themselves, right?

Depends how many voluntary mods you get to help out, etc. Also this is assuming the forum does indeed take off. Many dont.

Blogs, I would say. You don't have to put inputs on moderators & content quality. The traffic is all yours, the content matches your standards & you get to keep it clean from controversies.

Quality standards maybe higher but I would prefer user generated content any day :D Blogs with active commentators get the best of both worlds.

Well, aren't they harder to maintain though? Like you have to post daily, weekly, or monthly to make $$

Managing a forum is a daily chore. You can have a successful blog and not necessarily work on it everyday.

I've had more success with blogs than with forums, but I haven't managed to get a forum to 'take off' yet.

Forums because of the page views I believe will have more than any blog.

I have heard that forums are not very profitable, because of the low click rate. Also, blogs are much easier to start, forums take time and patience.

Forum monetization is very different. If your main revenue stream is PPC, you have it all wrong. You have a community at your fingertips, make the most of it.

From what advertising companies? CTR can be high if you know how to monetize.

CTR on forums is crap. They become adsense blind as they are there to chat, not click on ads.
