    Though it is a bit of a girl dog's name (Girlfriends Pet Labrador is called Saphire).

    I once knew a bloke who called his dog Spliff :D

    One day it got out for a week or so and he put up posters saying 'Lost dog - goes by the name of Spliff - please return if found' :p
