Has your perception of the USD and it's value changed ever since it started lossing it's value?

For some reason I still have that lingering feeling that the USD is higher than the Canadian dollar when I get paid.

    However:

AT the moment 1 Canadian Dollar = 1.01 USD
(we are higher! It fluctuates but it's still equal or slightly higher)

    Can you accept them? :p

I don't really perceive the USD any different but i'm loving the fact that the CDN dollar is at par basically. I'm getting even better deals when buying stuff from the US.

it's a good time to buy the USD now, hopefully when the new president come in and rejuvenate the the US economy, USD will go up and than it time to sell some USD for some profit.

I'm surprised about the drop too eh :p I mean so many huge companies are contributing to the economy (Nike, Adidas, Microsoft, Apple.. and the list goes on). Yet we (Canada) with our small companies like ROOTS  beats them lol

The value of one currency is all relative to the strategy of a country. It was thought that China (is it still? not sure) was keeping their currency artificially weak to keep their economy strong because of exports.

Good news for exports... bad news for imports.

The Canadian Dollar closed higher than the USD again. $1 US = $1.02 Cdn. This is the highest its been since 1974. The reason for the increase today, it was announced Canadian unemployment is at its lowest in over 30 years at 5.9%. Also it came out the US economy is somewhat stablizing and less likely to drop in to a recession...

Now if only our prices would drop to match our US counterparts. New cars for example are still 10-25% cheaper in the US compared to Canada...

^ Yeah, it would be more beneficial if our prices on items dropped but that doesn't seem like it'll happen too soon..

Well, Ive been thinking a lot about USD and still havent decided in which currency to keep my money. Im getting checks in USD, but its dropping all the way here in Russia, 30 roubles to 24.9 comparing the beginning and the end of this year.

I think I will keep 50/50, thats the first time since 1990 people in Russia started to sell dollars and keep their money in roubles.

Oh, and I think if US will get involved in a war with Iran, we can expect USD to drop again.
