Why not, since forums links can be a source of traffic for non related site. But if the forums is related to your site its better because you can get quality traffic from your targeted visitors and it can also help you improved SERP by your anchor text.

You'd obviously get better traffic if the links were webmaster related. Still people here have diverse interests, and so it does not necessarily mean that putting a link related to another niche would be fruitless.
People have diversified interests. It is not necessary that one person who is doing SEO will not have interest in any other product. So there is nothing wrong with publishing sig. of some other niche. However, it is possible that the traffic which you get in this way may not be a targeted traffic. This we should keep in our mind.
And if all others are putting up SEO specific sig links, it really wouldn't be a bad idea at all to put up something different. And as said earlier, visitors may have interests in niches other than SEO too. Cheers.
Anything that you do and brings traffic for your website is good. As long as the forum administrator permit adding your sig there is no problem. The only thing is that if you have other topic, the CTR will be lower.
