For every Adsense user there is a hint
    It is from my experience...

If you, as many [IMG] users, complain about low CTR and low earnings compared to other sites, this might be helpful for you

First you should know than conventional adsense Ad Units have some disadvantages as:
1-Ad Units styles and formats are now boring and repeated for visitors
2-Most advertisers doesn't put attractive words in there ads, thats to apply google adwords policies and to attract targeted visitors they want
3-Also if Ads are related to your content, it is not necessary to relate to visitors interests

    see..

Almost every site you visit, so what makes the visitor click yours?!

So why Link ads are the Best?
1-It is the only form of google ads that looks for the visitors interests, it depends on the visitor searches done with google.
2-The visitor may choose ads, which may be interesting for some visitors.
3-When some one clicks, he gets a list of sites , so he may click more than once
4-The link ads titles are more interesting
5-You will get a significant rise in earnings if you could blend text ads in a link list or list of your site content

Thanks for the tips, but my link units are performing as adsense video ads or img ads, so i always prefer image ads

    Nice tips Mr. ABDO

I suggest - for people using AdSense link units - to place the units next to the site navigation.

I've just put them on, so I need to give them the opportinty to bed in for at least a month, then i'll change the colour and do the same thing again. You can't rush these things. Historically i've had better results with contrasting ads than with blended ones, but it may be different for 728x15, I don't know yet. Point taken though. :)

Link ads work the same way as normal ads, right?

Ie one click on a link ad = one click on a text ad?

Sorry for the n00bish question

No, they don't. Users have to click the link ad then go to the next page/

Link ads on a sidebar can look like navigation. That often works. Other than that, having to make two clicks does harm CTR...

:) If you have a few hundred uniques every day, one week should be enough to test I think.

Sorry, I don't agree. One week isn't long enough to iron out any short term fluctuations and could give a complete 'bum-steer'.

Ok, I suppose it depends on the type of site.

I occasionally use link ads to supplement the ad unit on the page if the layout deems it appropriate. What I have found, though, is that the link units aren't anything to really bet on because they require two clicks for you to get any payment. The regular ads on my site are usually targeted just as well as the link units, so quality of ad isn't an issue in my case. And you can get just as many MFAAs advertising on the second page of the link unit as you can on the initial page of a regular ad.

I would by no means discourage their use, and your mileage will probably vary depending upon the type of site you have, the content on it, the visitor make up et cetera.

I don't agree. It all depends on the site layout and what's on the site that determines how well the link units will do. For example, I experimented with replacing my content ads with unit ads and my CTR dropped by about 2%.
