For the launch of a new web hosts review site, we're giving away 6 months of web hosting for free every week (if we get a ton of linkbacks, we can probably bump it to a daily giveaway), with the eligibility requirement being that you have to blog about the site. Basically, Pay Per Post meets a raffle. We're also going to run a campaign on Pay Per Post, and we're doing some other advertising, so it's not our only hope, but we are counting on some links through this. Is it a good enough offer to entice people? Let me know. Thanks.
I've tested this before and what happens is that people don't use it. I'm sure it's because it's free they don't respect it. We tested this a while back and only 1 out of 10 invested their time in making something worthwhile reading. The rest never updated for months. We don't offer this anymore
in my opinion, it looks a good way to build backlinks but if you get too many links in a short time, google may sandbox you
It's not really a huge priority for us what they do with the hosting space we give away. I mean, if they want, they can just transfer their existing domain onto the space, put up an MFA site or sell it to somebody - whatever. We just want to create some buzz and build links. The accounts are full shared hosting accounts from legit web hosts. It's not like we're breaking off a piece of a vded and assigning it to someone. They have full rights to the account and can do anything with it. I'm glad to see a couple people think it's a decent offer. We launched the PPP campaign today in small numbers, and we're going to increase the spots offered day by day so it doesn't look too surprising to the search engines that we're building links. We've also run some PPC, but it's a very competitive keyword area, and we're paying for a lot of one and done traffic, instead of getting a BL out of it too, plus some blog traffic. Thanks again for the input. I'll let you guys know how it goes.
Seems like a great idea to me. Except theres too many people trying to do the same old thing in that market.
Go ahead. There's no harm in trying. Just ensure that you are getting the relevant links that you need.
