strangley i cant seem to find a forum/subforum thats dedicated to hosts here yet its been the biggest decisioin have had to make ! ??

do i spend money on a decent bit of webspace even though i havent earned a penny , just been buying scripts and none of them seem to work as they all seem to require different thing and my free webspace i get with my isp just aint upto the job

i checkedout godaddy but theres so mny options etc i gave up , hostgator seems a lot cleaner and i think all its fantistico options will give me wht i need

I have over 50 parked domains some for 5 years so i think its time to do something with them ...........

Anybody out there using hostgater having problems with the general scripts for blogs/forums/content/niche crators you see for purchase here ?

Also anyone got ny Hostgator COUPONS !!!

Web hosting forum is under Buy/Sell/Trade -->Services--> Webhosting
    http://forums.digitalpoint.com/forumdisplay.php?f=98

There are hostgator coupons out there which offer 1st month for 1 cent
Should be OK as a host for simple websites...blogs etc
People say that support is not that great....not used it

as long as you dont need real support hostgator is great, but when there are isues they cant handle they just tell you to find a new host and wont fix the situation.

I have a 50.00 refund deal I will PM you the details.

I'm not so much a fan of hostgator. I know too many people that have been terminated without warning.
Now hostmonster I like a lot. Aside from me hitting the CPU limit(which I don't blame them for, that's my bad), it's awesome. Great support, no downtime, great features.
Oh yeah, and it costs $4.85/month

I have used Hostgator for over 2 years now and I have not had any problems with them. They have been fast with support and I host about 20 sites on their plan right below dedicated. I will have to move to dedicated soon enough though. I recommend them, but there are some that do not.

I'm a big fan of HG too. I jsut downgraded from a dedicated to 3 baby plans as my hosting needs changed but I'm still with HG.

Generally I'm happy with their fast support but there's a few times where they assign a new support member to continue a thread when he's not read the beginning of it.

Conversely though I've also had some very pleasant surprises when using them where they've exceeded my expectations.

    Best wishes,

    Martin

I think hostgator give you about 10 days to come up with the $$ before suspending the account.

HG is good for the price. I haven't tried the support... I preferred to resolve the problems myself. Awstats doesn't seem to be using my custom config file since the beginning of October, although cron is putting it in place regularly, and this is the only downside so far. Not a major issue; I've eventually get motivated to fix the problem.

ive used HG for over 2 years.

support is good. you can call them 24/7 and they will help you.
ive only needed them twice, for minor things.

If you want to tkae your website seriously, spend some money on web hosting. Google doesn't like free webspace and most visitors don't either. Presentation is half the battle in having customers, and a geocities website doesn't cut it anymore.

Hostgator is a decent option when it comes to hosting. I had an account with them for over 6 months and had no problems with them whatsoever.

I use Hostgator w/a shared account. You get SSH access (a limited shell) but have to send them an email copy of your photo id.

pluto459 Please do provide a ticket number. It sounds like you are just trying to make some money off another hosting affiliate program without having any direct experience with us. Seriously why would we tell anyone to cancel and refuse to help them?

xmcp123 we never terminate an account without warning. If you could pm me an example that would be great. We will suspend an account if they are crashing the server.

Hostgator has been awesome! I built a site for 8 people and they pay me monthly hosting, so I get to get free hosting for my 11 sites plus a little extra money. Not a bad deal!

I have five sites hosted at Hostgator and so far have been very satisfied. I have not had any trouble with installing scripts. I also have not needed support so I can't comment on their support quality; however, I highly recommend it.

Also, if Hostgator doesn't work for you, try Aplus. I worked for them for a long time and saw that their hosting was rock solid. I host a blog there and have had no troubles in almost two years with them. Also, their support/provisioning techs are real fast with fixing problems shall one arise.
