Looking for direction - How to drive more than the 1 million uniques we recieve p/m

For me if I have 1 million visitor a month I will leave without worrying of anything. How come you pull those people to your website but you don't know way to make money?

 

santhana .. of course we are making money. We've never said otherwise.
It's also costing a heap to keep growing. What we are looking for is more input on how to bring even more visitors in .. We want to hear as many theories that seem legitimate as possible to see just how big we can grow. We aren't ruling out any great ideas.

We're not opposed to paying for advertising in the right spots.. The most bang for our buck.. We need suggestions where.

We've don't use an ad agency yet to gain visitors. (Except a 20.00 trial of bidvertiser) Alot of our traffic is press, blogs, word of mouth, and the search engines since our articles are getting pretty good keyword authority which was part of why we've built it this way. The traffic is pretty consistant as is. We're just looking for avenues we perhaps haven't heard of that other's here have had success with if they're willing to share to continue the same growth pattern.

Big bursts of traffic from digg etc too help due to most visitors being return visitors to see any updated content.

We do recommend press releases for interesting sites to get traffic.

Paid advertising we're looking at. We've no seed funding, nor any angel investor.. We're building pocket ourwards for the last three months.

We've a bit of budget for advertising next month which is why we're having our banners, towers, etc designed by our designer.

Having a unique concept is key.
Building our site and the concept of how it works was no accident.

We just feel that some people here could have some really good ideas

I really have to believe that an aggressive viral marketing campaign would fit the bill. Just think if one visitor told just 1 other person about your website?

You are already having approx. 1 million visitors per month.
The numbers after a very short while would be CRAZY!

I thought I read someone earlier write about a contest idea, or something (not quite sure if that was in here or not). Anyway, give away (cool and useful) free software, or add a "tell-a-friend" script to the site- anything to make it easier for visitors to get the word out about your site.

Let them (the visitors) do some advertising for you (on top of other forms of marketing).

The catch is that the content on the site (whatever it is) has to be worth someone taking the time and effort to tell someone else. I think your site's perfect.

Yep, Viral Marketing is the name - Exponential growth is the game. That's what I say. Anyway, I'm just a PEON.

 

I have no idea if this will help any but we've created some 100% free screensavers with no spyware , or adware, or limitations on them whatsoever to give away.. Does anyone want to test them? .. I don't know if this will be any good for promotion but it was fun making them lol

A tell a friend system in each article might definately be a very good idea.

The 1 million hits you are getting are just from press releases, blogs, word of mouth, and search engines??? Now, if you were to say, oh, a couple of hundred thousand, ok. But 1 million? *raises eyebrow* hmmmm....

The idea of telling friends is a good one. Make it easy for them, though. Here is what I did....

You could submit them to freeware/shareware sites like 1 Cool File but you must host them on a real site. Get a $5 hosting plan to use it and show previews of them. Have a simple domain name related like suckeredfiles.us or suckeredscreensavers.us

Do that to 500+ sites like mine and you get more visitors from that alone for $5/month.

P.S. I don't use screen savers but that's me.

 

Why don't you tell us HOW you got the initial 1 MIL.... i read the posts,unless i missed it i didnt see a post telling us ???

 

You know, that would be a good way for you to make extra $. You should write a little e-book on how you exactly did it. Then use that $ for advertising.

But for now, pretend it's Christmas, and tell them how you exactly did it, and the number of hits that came in from each method you used.

Perry .. If you note we haven't even begun our paid advertising campaign. We bought a few text links but that's about it so far. We're actively seeking banner space and tower space in the B/S/T area now.

The people are finding the articles by keyword searches which is exactly the way the site was planned.

There's no secret other than how the script works with search engines.
The name alone is shock value.

Just curious...what are the keywords? How many articles do you have? In the search engines, what pages are you on?

Well, in her defense, even though my eyebrow is still raised, Alexa ranking has nothing to do with monthly hits. You can have no ranking yet get a butt-load of hits.

I don't understand the Alexa rank. You are rank 80,000 with 30,000 visits per day but I have Alexa rank 100,000 with only 150 visits per day.
