The US lending market is getting very bad, so you'd think that would mean bad things for this program--but it was already bad when Rob got into it. That's one of the most surprising things of all this. It's a saturated market that's still paying handsomely with relatively little innovation.
Selling ebooks is not really my thing. I don't think there is anything in this thread that is ground breaking. Besides, my campaigns are dead right now. see below. I was doing well until I deleted one of my ads and yahoo started sending me poor quality clicks from toseeka.com. In fact, I had some of my best net profit days after 9/10. I did $2400 net profit from 9/10 to 9/18. Right now I'm running at a loss Since 9/19, about $20-$40 a day. I'm trying to figure out what's going on with my google impressions. I'm getting less than 10,000/day, unlike the 100,000/day before 9/19. Also, I've suspended my yahoo ads and disabled the yahoo content network. Hopefully next week the yahoo campaigns will be profitable again and the google ads will pick up more impressions soon. If not, gonna have to try that "see how I made $600" thread's technique of bidding on keyword=clickbank product name.
Can't you just rebuild your quality score on Google by creating a new landing page on a new domain? You could even port some of the content from the old site over or use some plr articles if you're worried it won't be bulked up enough.
Sounds good ,here we go again. Last shot at this one for me at least for a little wile. Diet stuff converts well , theres a nice diet plan on clickbank. Might join you again rob on the clikcbank adwords Talk to you guys soon

Funny you should mention this. My campaigns also seem to have run into a wall. They've all just stagnated beginning around that period that you mentioned. My MSN ads are still okay but significantly slowed too but not to a crawl like Adwords.
Hi, all. I did a little over $4000 in Sept. The campaigns have not come back yet. Haven't really made any money in 2 weeks. I'll detail what I'm doing to pull these out of the dumpster, and see if anything works. Basically I think google slapped me and I started getting bad traffic from yahoo. I'm going to up my bid to $7 on google. In yahoo, they are going to start allowing domain blocking soon, so that should help immensely with my current problem there.
I should also add that I've developed a very simple tracking program that will show me which domains on the content network are converting for me. It's a simple little php script that reads the incomming domain and ip (when available - not all servers pass this info), then creates a cj sid code. when the visitor fills out the form and I get paid, I can identify the domain it came from via the sid code. for example: obceadv.search.yahoo.com obcring.mysearch.hud.com the prefix "obceadv" and "obcring" identifies the landing page and banner/ad clicked on. The suffix identifies the domain "search.yahoo.com" and "mysearch.hud.com". I also record the keyword used, time stamp, and ip address into the sql database. Since i'm limited to 30 characters on the sid code, all I really had room for was the landing page code and domain. So I have to cross reference a little for now. I'm still learning php, but it's pretty cool stuff. If I were getting traffic from the search network, I could easily modify it to track what keyword, domain, and banner/ad the user clicked on that converted. But I don't really need that much detail. Sorry I don't have screen shots and more detail, but I'm upgrading to windows vista and bought a quad core cpu (overclocked to 3.6ghz sweet!) , so I'm still installing my software and such.
Thanks for the updates, Rob. Sorry to hear the campaigns have not rebounded yet. You mentioned you thought Google slapped your site... I don't think they are slapping anyone who just advertises on the content network (yet). Your site has multiple pages with content so I can't imagine they would view it as a bad user experience.
Maybe "slap" is too strong a word. But all my keywords have gone from "ok-great" to generally "poor-ok". My average position has dropped from 3 to 8, and my impressions are about 1/5 of what they were. My sister's account actually is making more money than me right now! LOL.
I guess I've lurked this thread long enough. Thanks for all your candidness with this Rob. Regarding... Something that might help. Create an ID# for each incoming domain/IP in a database table, then GET that ID and pass that in the sid= for CJ. This can also be done for keywords and any google campaign or ad-group variables you pass along to your site. This also keeps nosey affiliate managers from seeing exactly what keywords and websites are giving you such a great ROI and competing with you or 'sharing' your ideas with someone. All they see are ID codes. Downside is that you have to match ID's back up later of course, but not too bad if you only focus on the top converting ID's. Thanks again for this thread!
I'm a bit confused... I thought the campaign was running strictly on the content network now? Google doesn't give a quality score down to each keyword with the content network.
I do run on the search network, but I get only a few clicks/month from it. So it is effectively only running on the content network. The quality score seems to affect my content network performance with respect to my average position and number of impressions.
Rob, I was just about to suggest this tool for tracking content network traffic down to the referring website: http://www.ppseer.com/overview.cgi?select=yes It looks like you invented the same thing on your own, but maybe their tool would be worth a look at least for ideas. Have you tried any adwords180-type strategies? Basically, have you proactively sought out websites to advertise on with site targeting?
