Not for a few weeks. Stop worrying about page rank and just focus on making your site for the user and the not the SE. Your rankings and traffic will follow.

For anyone that does not understand that there is inherently a finite amount of ranking power (pagerank, backlink credit, IBL credit or whatever metric you want to use/call it) in existence at any given time...

    don't even worry about it.

When would these people ever learn? PR updates are slowed down because most of us assumed that PR updates in 3 months, that is why Google slowed it down. And what will you do to your PR, can you still use it for link selling even though Google tells the webmasters that if there are instances that links are sold or exchanged for PR, it is considered as a bad idea?

You are using limit in a way differently than it was used earlier in the discussion. Adding more pages does not mean that you will "run out" of PageRank... in that respect, no, there is no practical limit.

Actually, I'm not even sure if you understand it based on the way you put it. I'm not sure at all where you are getting the "so there's a limit" bit.

Read the paper again. The limit is 1. It's a relative measure of page popularity. As you add more pages to the index/database, the PR value accruing to any individual page changes slightly.

That's part of the reason why it was easier to achieve a PR5 or PR6 a couple of years ago than it is today.

No, that's a misunderstanding of the concept of what a limit is. It is not a limit of 1, it is exactly 1, forever and always. There is no "approaching" or "up to" involved in it.

Do people still really use PR for link trading. Get the times man! It's nothing more than a gimmick nowadays, it has no bearing on rankings whatsoever.

How does google actually determine if links are sold or exchanged for PR, rather then for monetary gain????

It can be noticed if a site is linked sitewide or if someone reported a paid link.

A site-wide link is NOT an indicator of being a paid link.

I understand what you mean, but due to the sum always being 1 (could actually be any number, but I'm assuming 1) when the PageRank of one page goes up, the rank of other pages must necessarily go down. Also, if another page is added and gets PR, all other pages must lose PR. So in that way there is a "limit".

When you add a new page the amount of PageRank it gets comes from the other pages. In theory, as the number of pages approaches infinity, the PageRank of each individual page approaches zero. That sounds very limiting to me. ;)

Please note that I'm completely ignoring any transformations they might use on the original data to get the publicly available value, and assuming that the formula is still like the one described in the old documents.

Hey, I've checked like 10 times on my toolbar but my new site: http://leetornoob.com/ says pr 3, it's only a few days old so google might be updating pr now or my toolbar is just acting up.
