Ok, so one of our prospective clients are looking to improve their coverage of the UK SERPS. Unfortunately their site is hosted in the US so they don't show in the UK listings. For example: Facebook on Google UK Also, the software they use on their site HAS to stay in the US so there isn't any chance of transfering the site. Any ideas? Bam
Do they have a UK domain name with local content, and if not, why not? Surely if they're serious about the UK market they'd want a local presence, even if it is only a virtual presence.
In the given example you have selected "pages from the UK" I don't think it would be achievable by any chance for the site hosted in US. But it would be possible to target UK market by other means. PM me if you are interested.
Ive seen "pages from UK" only work when site is hosted in UK ( for Yahoo ) but if site has .co.uk TLD OR hosted in UK , will appear in "Pages from UK"... Im not sure how many people click that box? .. I dont
Are you providing SEO services to them?If so you should know the answers. You make a statement which is fundamentally not true, a website hosted in the US can rank top in the UK. I have many sites hosted in the US with .com domains that compete at the highest level with .co.uk domains hosted in the UK. So they can do this as they are, they just need proper SEO help from an expert.
There is a difference between "google.co.uk" where they will show up and the personalized search option "UK only" where they are not shown as you run the site on a US server. The only way to show up if the searcher selects UK only, is to host the site on a UK server.
The domains extension is far more important then server location. The bulk of Australian sites are hosted on US infrastructure as its far cheaper, Google realizes this. Get a co.uk domain and backlinks from other .co.uk sites and you will do fine.
Hello, totally agree with this comment, Hosting region is not more important. Try to buy .co.uk domain having keyword in domain name will help more. or buy related domain and use it as a satellite site for main domain.
