Did anyone else notice this in their directories referral stats? I have recieved a big list of visitors from squidoo from different lens, and the main thing is no links are found on those pages which means this can be spam in the awstats to inflate the results? Anyone else noticed this?
i always get crap like that amit. I presume its fake hits so you click the link out of interest = free traffic for them. I see it with many sites where i have no adverts/backlinks there
Most probably its spam but sometime server logs also play weired. On my one site i used to get hits from microsoft.com
I think that u can block this crap spam from the .htaacess file ! & and this is the 1st time i have seen this to come from Squidoo
LOL I guess, google analytics is always good in catching real visitors! anyways, i have also noticed a lot of referrals from a lot of links which actually don't exist! perhaps mikey is right, this may be a way to trick us to click those links
I also thinks that's might be the reason... I haven't got hits from Squidoo but I do see hits from some pages where I have never advertised and I don't even see my link there.
I just checked four of those links and they're all from the same lensmaster. So something suspect is happening there. Would you like me to report it to Squidoo HQ? I'm a moderator at their forums.
I've sent them an email to investigate the matter. With them all coming from the same lensmaster it's very suspicious activity indeed.
