Hi there, I am an AdSense beginner. One of my projects is to write a content-rich blog of my field trip to view a space shuttle launch. I would appreciate if you could review it in regard to ad placement (and, of course, anything else) and let me know any tips. The URL is http://spacelaunch.gerhards.net Any comments are appreciated. Rainer
Nice informative blog idea however the only issue i see with such blogs is no ad inventory for targetted ads. who wants to bid for space shuttle? Whats there to sell which is related to space? check your ads they are way off. I can see 1 ad related to satellite, not bad and other 3 are real estate and something else. If you want to make money from this blog, you might need to think beyond this. If this is for hobby, then yes its a good blog.
Hi godmode, this is a very valid point. The blog is partly for hobby, but I'd also like to get some financial benefit from it. My idea is to attract ads for "space toys", pictures, models and all those things that space enthusiasts love. There are a lot of big space related sites out there (like space.com) and they seem to do quite well. You hit the point: the blog text probably contains the wrong keywords to attract those ads. Do you agree to this analysis or do you think the whole thing is hopeless? Feedback really appreciated... Rainer
Ah, that sounds like a good idea. I think that counts against my three adblocks that I can place on the site? In any way, I need to get more traffic, else it's hard to see any effect (with low traffic, everything is pretty random...). Thanks, Rainer
Well its a blogspot blog, so there is nothing to loose Try running it for 1 month or so and you would realise if there is any hope to continue financially. As a hobby you can always grow the blog. I am confident that by 2020 there would be a lot of ad inventory. There would be .mars and .moon domain names. Virgin air would start twice weekly flight to moon So yes it will build its value over time.
lol... the 2020 date seems to be something to target Well, acutually it may pay to think about 1012+, when the moon rockets start again. I guess that will drive in some traffic. And, hey, I've some other sites dormant for years now, so why does this one hurt ... but I have to admit I am also trying to get a few somewhat quicker results... Rainer
