I see new directories created and advertise at Solicitations & Announcements section everyday. But one thing that caught my thinking is that most of the owner were unknown to me and very good chances they never become active in the Directories forum. So how many active directory owners use this forum? My estimate would be aroun 100, but I would like to see some actual stats for this info. .

I would consider myself active here. I visit the forum several times a day and read much more than I write. With the delay in the pr update and penalties many of the threads here just turn into petty little fueds with name calling and finger pointing that I just don't want to be involved with. I was going to give some examples of threads which would probably just start it all up on this thread so I decided not to. The regulars here know those threads and I think many other regulars are staying low key.
Not only are ALOT of members staying low-key, I would say the majority of the regular directory forum participants have abandoned DP forever, due to the current state of the directories forums. It's really pathetic to look at Page 1 of the directory forum and see half a dozen flame wars, at least half a dozen misplaced threads, and most of the rest are redundant questions asked everyday. DP needs to really get some more mods, or at least a mod or two that frequent the directory forum. It's in sad shape right now.
The current state has probably been in part due the shake up and people that perhaps were all out at sea not knowing how to stay calm in a storm. ( newer players ) From a new persons perspective intersting is a word i would use, but the current trend is shifting and we will now start to see ( IMO ) people starting to work together for the good of all, new ideas and concepts on the table and as quick as the cloud blew in it will blow away. After every storm there is a rainbow, and the weather man tells me clear skies are on the way.
Directory section of Dp is the most happening place, i guess there are a lot of active members in here. I know some people comes here just to announce their directories, but once they get involved in some kind of discussion they become regular members! Dr. chetan, you missed me!
Couldnt put it better,.... before the "pena...." this section was actually informative, a couple of bashing here and there,.....but on the whole good threads, now it is so deppressing,.....every second thread dedicated to "pena....".... cant even write that word, seems depressing and too much effort. well,....i would consider my self active, ... reading mroe than posting,.....but do log on every now and then to check out whats going on. mywebsearches and good place to look is this list i compiled few months back, not comprehensive, but all DP members from my part of the world. M.
I think 90% of the new directories announced are by folks thinking it is a quick way to make some cash and they don't post because they don't really have much interest beyond making a quick buck and then scooting on to something else. Also wanted to mention that those crappy useless threads started by trolls would not last as long on the front page if the experienced posters didn't waste so much time trying to argue with those folks. Most of the trolls have no geniune interest in the topic anyways and just repeat the same worthless stuff over-and-over.
A few more posts and I'll have only 400 but if you look at my blobs, I think I'm pretty active here. I, like a few others usually only post when I have something to say, good or bad. I almost 12 hours a day have an open tab to DP and regularly check the directories section. I find a lot of help in here since I opened my directory in November and if I haven't said thanks to all that have helped me out here, let me say it now. THANKS!
I would say I am active member 97% @least of my post have been here in the directory section but I would also say alot of active member do stay away because of all the bs lately
There has been lots of crazyness here lately but it really is no different than other places, i personally cannot find a place in the world where people wont attack each other, ive even been on forums where you would never expect arguing in a million years but it happens. Money and lack of it is what makes people argue, deflated egos and uncertainty, some directories are not going to recover from this, their embarrassed. As for the ones who only go into Solicitations & Announcements, their not obliged to come into this section and make friends or explain themselves really, their the sensible ones, they come in, announce their offers and leave, best way really, if you want them you could always use their contact forms or pm them.
