Surge in Iraq is Working

This will undoubtedly infuriate some, who play politics and those who want an al qaida victory in Iraq, but such is life.

    http://www.worldtribune.com/worldtribune/WTARC/2007/ss_iraq_09_30.asp
This comes at a time, when more bad news (for those who seek an al qaida victory in Iraq) or good news (if you really do support America and the troops) that US deaths continue to drop in Iraq. The media could not hide the fact any longer and has finally started reporting it.

Bad news for terrorists, good news for Iraqis and Americans.

If it's that good out there then [IMG] and stop cheerleading from the sidelines.

70 needless American deaths in September and you think that's acceptable.

We all knew AGS would be upset. Good news for America is always bad news for him. The same people he calls "dumb americans," "turkeys," and other slanderous names, but will never say a bad word about terrorists.

Let the political spin begin. Who will be the first to sell out America?

Thats a definitely good news, as soon as things get sorted out, the troops can return home. And surge working there is a sign of that.

Hmm. I woulda thunk AGS might've chimed in with, at least, something saying "I'm glad that AQ in Iraq is in disarray. Maybe they'll be able to kill less civilians now" . Maybe some of the others that harp about Iraq. The silence is odd. Almost as if they are upset that progress is being made :/

It’s great to see AGS finally being happy about something, it’s also great to see how pleased he is with the success of the surge.

AGS saying something positive about any group other than islamic terrorists would be like ablaye making a donation to a Jewish charity. Ain't going to happen.

That is good news... September was the lowest US military deaths in about a year... Still too high though...

The surge may be quelling terrorist violence, but I would like a report that it is eliminating secular violence and creating an atmosphere for political progress. It's sectarian problems that are holding up the Iraqis from assuming responsibility for their country, not Al Queda. In fact, I don't ever recall reading a report about Al Queda attacking Iraqis, although such reports may exist.

    Isn't amazing.
Step back out of the bubble.
It is the players who get played as always.

The story is where you read it and for whom it was published.
1.There was a meeting a month ago of the nations and tribes in UAE.
Basically it said that Iraq will control the oil
It was actually bad news for USA and UK.
    2. It is Ramadan hence the western body counts will be lower.
    Always the way.
2007 CALENDAR OF IMPORTANT ISLAMIC DATES
    Aashura: January 29, 2007
    Ramadan: September 13 - October 11, 2007
    Eid ul-Fitr: October 12, 2007
    Hajj: December 18 - December 21, 2007
    Eid ul-Adha: December 20, 2007
    Islamic New Year: January 9, 2008 (1429 A.H.)

It is good that fewer UK and US troops are getting minced.
I have brothers out there serving the Queen, but make no mistake if they die they know it is for oil and our lifestyle, not for glory or liberation.
    And as for
AQN!! They served their purpose, and their funds are cut.
Where did they get the funds?
    You tell me.
Maybe it wasn't just from Arab States.

General Petraeus gave that report just a few weeks ago. Some here actually accused Bush of hiding behind Petraeus, when Petraeus was to give the report so as not to be perceived as bias. In fact, as Petraeus mentioned, he did not meet with the Whitehouse prior to the report. Others, "liberals" went so far as to accuse him of betrayal, while democrats questioned his integrity.

Given recent previous personal experience with such reports, other than calling it biased (because it doesn't fit one's agenda), what else would you do with it, besides criticize it?

To admit one hasn't read a report about al qaida attacking Iraqis is to admit one doesn't follow the news. al qaida is the primary motivator of the very sectarian violence mentioned. They intentionally started this sectarian war by attacking both groups and almost daily, blowing up innocent Iraqis.

What makes these new reports (finally) so interesting is, that death tolls have decreased during ramadan.

    I stand corrected.
"Muslim tenets hold that fighting a foreign occupation force during Islam’s holy month puts a believer especially close to God. "
    http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/15314207/
So why the lower US kills?
I am not sure but too tired/ busy to research so will speculate
~1 Due to UAE oil meeting
~2 Since the troops British at least have withdrawn, and patrols have been really really cut down, a bit like occupying a modern day fort around the airfield

You are even more naive than I thought GTech if you thought Petraeus was going to give anything other than a positive report for Bush and his Iraq disaster.

    The surge is working :D

Moveon.org would rather see thousands of US dead than for US to win
