About 4 months ago, I went through a process to cancel 3 domains out of the 5 I hold there. Although the site was not clear, I remember I was somewhat confident that they would not be renewed, b/c I spent about 5 minutes doing all this stuff that it told me to do. I did not send a fax. The site said nothing about sending a fax (I have heard ppl on here say you need to send fax) Anyway, I log back in, and it seemed these domains were all renewed on July 11, and now I am stuck w/ them for yet another year. Questions: anyone know how to stop them from renewing? can I put an end to it via my creditcard company? what sit should i switch to (taht is in the same price range)? thanks guys!
I've had 1&1 before and yes I had to send I think was a letter to cancel. Maybe it was a fax not sure now. I also contacted 1&1 after just to make sure I no longer had an account with them. I just registered a domain and 1 year hosting for $40.93 at godaddy. 10% discount added and $1.99 domain, maybe you can try them.
1and1.com is the suckiest of all the sucky suck companies. Here is what you need to do. Unless 1and1.com recently went to jackass rehab, you will have a terrible time getting out of 1and1.com. ~~~~~~~~~~ goto cancel.1and1.com and log in click cancel on the side panel click the "package" you want to cancel (not just the names but you have to cancel the WHOLE PACKAGE or THEY WILL CHARGE YOU) choose AS SOON AS POSSIBLE in the drop down box. click ALL the submit buttons ~~~~~~~~~~ More Commentary 1and1.suck will continue to charge you for names you cancel. Do not be shocked to find a collections notice from NCO Financial Systems. Do not think that their billing department gives a crap about you or the problem that their errors and oversight cause you. NO, there's no need for a fax or a letter. after you'll cancel the domain at cancel.1and1.com, there will be a confirmation email that will be sent to your account email address. so make sure to confirm it on your email, or else cancellation will not be push through.
