Hutsy search engine.. (meta search engine)

Discussion in 'All Other Search Engines' started by hitboy, Jun 3, 2007.

Ive been running my site for quiet some time now and I have building the links out of it like crazy. It is a meta search engine if you cant already tell.. The ctr on the ads are great but I would like to start my own advertising program on it. I'm not sure if this is a good idea or not so please give me some advice.

The last thing I would like to discuss is there a place for meta search engines still?

PS: I don't use google for search results but other search engines...

you can see the site in my signature

The problem with meta engines is that if you don't have permission to use the results from source you are getting them, you will be in trouble just when the money starts rolling in.

And I wouldn't start own advertising program because you'll get a lot more relevant ads with google ads than you would ever get with your own program and people are willing to pay more for google ads than some small network ads.

I think I will do more research about that mikkom..

The green bar under the links is what the search engines place each result etc...

It looks like you are using K-Search, is this correct? Are you having any problems with them updating the code (I had problems with it in the past)?

    hitboy,

I do like your layout, but I have wanted to switch also (support is terrible - if I get a response it can takes weeks or even months).

The rest of the off the shelf scripts I have seen usually are very limiting. Most only pull from one search engine (and a couple pay-per-click engines) which really does not create any value to the user. I have found one other that I am considering using, but I am not a programmer and not sure how to customize it (it is also a little more expensive). The link for it is: http://chatologica.com/site/index.php

Also, what kind of hosting package do you have your K Search on? I got bumped from my shared package for to much CPU usage. Just curious.

You have to disable Related Searches function to lower the CPU usage.

Chatologica is a good script too, I have used that for test purpose but I like K-Search.

I have researched a lot about meta search script, did not found anyone that is 100% perfect!

Also I bought a few script for using, most of them are just crap. I'd like to say that K-search is best of them. They are updating script regular basis.

There are definitely problems. The search I ran never returned any results. After 2.5 minutes, I closed the tab.

    Sorry.....

Nice site. I like the concept and feel of it. How much are you earning from it, hitboy?

If you're still making at least $3 - 6 a day I doubt you've been smartpriced. I think you can only say an account is definitively smartpriced if you're making $0.01 to $0.02 per click (that did happen to me for a while back when I was doing arbitrage).

One thing you might want to look into, though, is that the fact that your adsense ads aren't targeted. I did a few searches and most of the ads that were displayed were irrelavent. It displayed adsense, translation, and search engine stuff.

yea i know im not sure why that is happening yet i think have been smart priced because when i first created the site the ads were targetted they no longer are plus i am getting tons of clicks yet low income..
