Asking someone to click an ad isn't the same as asking someone to digg a story. If they click an add they make you money, it should be a random natural click because it cost the advertiser. So that's why it's obviously wrong to ask people.

But asking people to check out a news story isn't in the same boat. It doesn't cost anyone anything, also they don't have to digg it, if they look at it and don't like it they wont think ''OOPS best digg it because that random stranger asked me too'' I don't see anything wrong in using forums and what not to promote relevant articles.

You're right there, but the problem that I have seen is that articles that are lame or spammy get diggs anyway. People don't stop and think before they click.

What a delightful example of homophobic bigotry! You are free to dislike Digg but take care that your jibes are appropriate.

I used to use digg and few other digg like websites for promotion. I created 5 usernames from my home computer and 5 from my office.

Thing were going on pretty good and I was able to get some 8 or 10 digs and then another 5 from other users.

One day I made 10 digs in a very short period of time. My accounts and the ip addresses both got banned. Now I can not use any of the 10 user names.

    Be careful when doing that.

This is the second thread I've seen on Digital Point Forums describing Digg's foul play. Frankly, I haven't bothered yet to open an account on Digg and after reading this thread as well as the other thread, I have no intention in doing so. I'm a professional writer and I promote my articles using Facebook and Twitter.

I've just received an emai and just logged into digg okay without any problems. Why have people been banned - haven't read throughout the thread yet.
