Hello guys please post which hosting service your using to host ur proxy servers.. Are you happy with that service.. do you recommend other people to take it?
Not sure if you are looking for recommendations here but hosting proxies and hosting forums and/or topsites are two totally different things with different needs. Hosting forums and/or topsites can be done on conventional web-hosts while hosting proxies requires specialized service e.g. a proxy takes up a few KB of space but might require many GB or even TB of bandwidth. Forums require quite a bit of space and hard disk reliability.
I edited my post... I'm looking for good hosting for my proxy servers. so please recommend which hosting r u all using and hows the service, price , reliability
First, i'm goind with Hagio-host (Until Now). and now .. i'm running with my own BOX. with 20 proxy site Only 10 days the cost covered. (Domain + Server)
I have been running proxies for quite a while and have tried many hosting providers and have had bad experiences with all except one: I would defo recommend thewird and wdservers.com, I currently have two boxes with them and have been very pleased with the server performace and service levels. They understand proxies and the associated server modifications required and risks invloved. Despite that the prices are great and they provide unlimited bandwidth which is ideal for hosting proxies !
I also host with wdservers.com Proxies are handled quite well. Abuse complaints are also handled for you, which is quite a good service for a proxy owner. You also do not have to worry about overage charges or anything. Wdservers also offers vps hosting that supports proxies. I have seen the machine they use for the VPS, and it is very impressive and professional. Also, since they run Xen, it assures they are not overselling the memory on that server.
We have many satisifed clients too. Feel free to check out our sale thread : http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=482488 Thanks
i use this one techentrance.com i found them here on DP at this link http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=458456 and the guys is really helpful he even helped me with some code on my site to fix a problem i had.
Actually, I only want to change because i can find a better deal else ware. Prices ARE good, but i think i can find better. And uptime is pretty good. I've had a couple of problems though...
Take my advice for good and never change a host that you are comfortable with to save couple of $ a month or be promised of more space/bandwidth If you have good uptime and performance - never think of changing hosting because the couple of $ you will be saving can be lost in downtime on the host that you didn't try yet Just my 0.02
Rightly said by Tech Entrance. Our plans might look a bit costlier, still we are getting repeat orders from exisiting clients because they love the stability, reliability and uptime. The same holds true for others who are satisifed with their hosts.
I would also recommend thewird at wdservers.com He has been in the proxy business for couple years and optimizes his servers specifically to run with proxies and to block any abuse that is going on. I have one of his vps's and am very satisfied with it, bandwidth is awesome too.
How about wdservers.com uptime? I have many bad experiences about proxy host in this forum. 3 of proxy host that i used go away before 1 month and very bad uptime. 1 of proxy host stolen my money. Anyone have more feedback with wdservers.com ? Regards.
who have taken wdserver hosting.. which plan r u taken and how many proxy servers r u running with them? i took 15$ plan yesterday and ran 2 proxy server (new proxy servers not much traffic .. like only 1-20 ppl a day) next day the site stopped working.. i contacted wedserver.. they said RAM ran out of memory.. i was like it cudnt take two new proxy servers? what you wanna say abt it ppl
I'm hosting with wdservers as well, and it's been my best experience to date... I've been with 4-5 other hosts and had nothing but problems. You really do get what you pay for when it comes to proxy hosting, if you are new to this don't waste your time with some host that is charging $10 a month, believe me, it's too good to be true. It might work out for a week or two but down the line it will not work out in your favor.
Letcha did you read what i wrote before you post? Which Plan have you taken from wdservers? and how many proxy servers ur running?
When you buy a VPS, your running a whole distro of linux on those resources your purchasing. Some distro's take about 128mb of ram just to idle. If you purchased the 128mb plan, and you are actively using it without doing memory optimizations to remove services you do not need, then you will probably find it to be inadequate. This has nothing to do with wdservers, it is universal system administration. So you can run it with 128mb of ram, but you will want to turn off all the services you do not use, such as mail, dns, sql, etc. Just run apache. Also, proxies are very memory intensive. Many of them load the whole page into memory and then deliver it. The way apache works, each process continues to take that much memory until that process gets reset. So with 128mb of ram, you have to be very careful about how you config your resources, but it may be possible. I would say your probably better off upgrading to 256, or 512 if your not simply serving static pages. I have ran proxies on a 512vps before, a 512 dedicated server, a 1gb dedicated server, a 2 gb dedicated server, and a 4 gb dedicated server. Guess which one worked the best?
