Has anybody had this problem when: a user had a cron (scheduled) that was creating processes that were not ending. I contacted the server admin and thats what they stated: What I did was when I found a lot of processes running and found that they were still being created, I checked and found a user had a cron (scheduled) that was creating processes that were not ending. This caused the server to fill up its available memory including swap. My attention was not alerted to the server at the time due to no load being caused on the server. Once I was alerted I quickly fixed. Please let me know if this occurs again, and I'll know that this client is possibly aware of this, and is reapplying, and their account may need to be recreated. - Duane C. Technician This issue arised several times during this month, what should i do, the server i am hosting at is not secure!!! Should i change it? I am so confused Please help me!
Then for whome you are waiting for, just look around for a some reliable host. Can you let us know your budget so we can help you for your hosting.
I have to agree. Quite often someone will try to run a cron that is horribly coded and the only way to tell is if you look at the process list. While the host should have some scripts to monitor the status of the server, it is far from their fault. The error is clearly bad programming and the script should be removed from the server. At least chmod 000 the script so that is can not run. I would contact the customer to have them turn off the script. I would also contact the server admin and have them chmod the script so it can not run.
What are the specs of your server? Shared or dedicated? In any event, contact your client and have them revise the job to your levels.
