    $1000! What is the purpose of the list besides know who is on the top. Is there anything that someone can benefit by knowing this?

    people like to advertise on top sites...good alexa->high alexa....so they want to keep the list of top sites for their businesses...

    Yeah but is that really worth $1000?
    There must be a script to gather it.. whois sites mention the alexa ranks so I don't get why people would spend that much money.

    Well for a company with lots of cash focusing on ROI, that money could be pocket change, not to mention how much easier it would be to just buy it vs. compile it.

    Exactly. They could've taken that $1000 and paid for some google adwords and some other form of advertisement. They probably pay for it and then sell portions of the list underground to total up to more money.

    For those intested in finding the Alexa list of channels, I believe that, at present, no program is better than Lively Browser whose latest version is 3.2.1 and is regulrarly automatically updated
