hi, i'm currently using godaddy.com's hosting plan, and i only utilize like 2% of their traffic bandwidth per month, and i was thinking of starting a new site to do some research, is it ok for 2 domain names to share the same hosting plan, but the 2 domain's do totally different things, is there anyway in which i can separate the files all together so that, it's like our harddrive, c:\> and d:\> ??? thanks guys~
LOL 2 domains are ok with one host until and unless ur host supports it .... i have a host with 5 domains on it ... all low traffic
wow, how do you separate the files? i mean they're suppose to go to index.htm /php by default right?? how do you separate them?
Check if your host allows you to have more than one domain on your current hosting plan. If they do, they'll tell you where to put the files for the new domain. It's usually in a diffent folder.
i've submitted waiting for reply, but i've checked with other forums, and the ANSWER is a SOLID NO~ undless i do the domain forwarding thingee~ well, they suggested me to change to Bluehost.com, because they allow unlimited domain addons for only $6.95 per month, furthermore they say that their hosting plan's have better servers than godaddy, so i'm thinking of switching next month when my godaddy hosting account expires, i pay only $3.50 per month.... and i only utilize like about 2% of the bandwidth man~
Yeah BlueHost.com is Great~ Wohooo i've checked them out~ they have amazing plans~ next here i come, oh, i'm not affliated with them
I use dreamhost and get unlimited domains. I've generally got anywhere from 5-10 domains on my one account.
If your traffic on those site is not much then try netfirms max offer 10$ for first year host unlimited sites includes 2 free domain .... A big saving http://netfirms.com/max
im allowed to on hostgator.com im paying $10 a month (i only paid $.01 for the first month though, i searched for coupons online) i currently have 2 domains registered and ill problaby be expanding that to many more in the comming months. how it works (if somebody else didnt explain it) is when you set up the other domain it creates a sub- folder/ sub- domain off your main site. you can then put all your files into that sub folder and index.html / php will work the same as the index file in your primary site.
wow $10.00 per month.... hmmmm if that's so i rather wait till my traffic ranking on alexa hit's 100k before switching hosting plans, now my ranking is only 300k, thats around 1500k unique visitors per day, i'll wait first still busy updating my site... i thought bluehost only cost 6.99?
Use GoDaddy deluxe or premium hosting and you can host unlimited domains. As for the index issue. Create a new folder e.g. mainsite/newsite/ and go to your hosting control panel, select /settings /domain management and add your new domain and put the hosting root as whatever you called the /newsite/ folder.
