Hi guys, I will be setting up a clipshare into my new dedicated box and I was wondering how can I install the following functions: GD Library 2 or higher FFmpeg (http://ffmpeg.mplayerhq.hu) Mplayer + Mencoder (http://www.mplayerhq.hu/design7/dload.html) Flv2tool (http://inlet-media.de/flvtool2) Libogg + Libvorbis (http://www.xiph.org/downloads) LAME MP3 Encoder (http://lame.sourceforge.net) Basically, it's a software shown in http://www.clip-share.com/video-sharing-script-requirements.html anyone can show me some simple step on how to setup new software in linux dedicated box? I have root access of course. toby
To install software on your dedicated server, simply copy the applicable installation package (RPM file) to your server and run it using a remote-administration tool, such as SSH.. For more information on RPM packages check this link-http://tldp.org/HOWTO/RPM-HOWTO/index.html
sound so easy, seo_chatbox, and wonder how can i test the software? and how can i copy the code into the server? is it putting into public_html? or where? i'm not so familar with linux but i'm willing to learn :_)
The best option is you can contact your host for the same. I think they can guide you in a much better way.Hope this helps
hello use yum to install , login by ssh and search , update , install using yum ! examples : yum search name yum install name yum update .... if no find software you need add more repos in your /etc/yum.repos.d best
toby, I really liked you zeal for learning new things I really appreciate it. All the best buddy. Regarding YUM : Yum is an automatic updater and package installer/remover for rpm systems, first you have install it on your machine and then using it you can install any rpm. Installation : blog.webhosting.uk.com/2006/06/06/simple-installtion-of-yum/ Using YUM : fedoraforum.org/forum/showthread.php?t=25880
To install these software on a Linux box, you would need the SSH access which you would need a putty software. There are many people on the net can install these software you, I highly recommend itdevil as he can install nearly everything that you can imagine. I been dealing with this guy over a year now and he has done a lot to me. If you want these software installed I can let him know about it. Plus he charges low rates for it.
Hello toby, I don't think it's much hard to install any software if you know what rpm you will required you just have to fallow steps which are described or you may take help of senior forum members. I know you can do it.....[ if you are short at time and don't want to play with your box then you may pay someone who knows linux very well ] For peace of mind better try to get managed dedicated hosting.
