I totally disagree. Google is not an autocracy. If we get enough webmasters. We will have a reply within 12 hours. I know how google works. ;)

Yeah, you guys do realize that anyone that wants the PR to be updated wants it updated for something that google is trying to stop right now

Why would they try to help you do something that they're working hard fight?

I said that before, it's probable (though one cannot be sure about it) that Google deprecates the Toolbar PR export. It would stop radically some of the practices that Google wants to stop.

If you don't know the current (or semi-current) PR of the homepage of a site, it would be hard(or less easy, whatever) to sell a link. Who would buy a link from a site that might well be PR2 or PR3? Maybe even penalized and PR0?

Without an export, the current PR might well become a myth, nobody could ever be sure of it. It wouldn't be the end of the world, take it for granted. Nobody could issue a complaint. It's Google stuff, they are not obliged to reveal anything. Would you reveal some vital information for your business? Would you carry on publishing it IF it starts to become a headache?

I wrote once in a blog that the best that webmasters (us) can do is to start a symbiotic relationship with Google. This is the focus: Helping Google to achieve the goal of showing relevant results to the user that requests info from the Google Search.

I know that many people would disagree, and some webmasters might think it's not the right position, I also know that being in the Google Wave is kind of tough and makes you move very fast whenever a new algo (and new recommendations) come. But, if we adapt our techniques it may help both the users and ourselves.

Google can take their time with PR update because it is their products.

However for some webmasters PR is important for making money with links etc.

Exactly, and that's why they're never gonna show PR ever again

Why do you think that is? Its business to know you have to spend money to make money. If google gets rid of PR they are going away from these business principles. All its gonna mean is people spend money somewhere else to dominiate googles new algorithims and the same thing will happen again.

For years now some of my crappier sites have ranked first in google. Whereas my best, which are also the best in the niche have ranked poorly. The ranking systems are highly corrupt at the moment. I don't think google will abolish PR, i think they will change their methods and add other supportive practices so PR is more accurate.

But what's the point of showing PR to everyone? The only reason you would need it is to buy or sell links

Which google doens't want to happen

If Google gets rid of toolbar PR there will be another method for those who want to sell links, it could be pagestrength, or perhaps just based on a pages SERP's for a particular keyword. If they drop PR it won't stop people selling links.

Personally I don't really care if they keep it or not.................... Hmmmmm hang on though, what am I doing reading this thread at all if that's the case!

I think it's more likely that there are major changes afoot in the algo, hence the delays, probably taking a lot of emphasis off linking and more based around on page factors such as good code, unique content etc etc

To get people to use the Google toolbar so they can track their web usage for market research while at the same time making people more dependent on Google (if they're using their tools and programs).

3 main types of people use the Google toolbar with PR showing:

    1) Webmasters/SEO
    2) Average consumers that feel it's a sign of if a site is safe or not. They see it as "the green bar of trust".
    3) People without a clue who install the toolbar for the search and highlight feature and install it with all options selected.

#3 and most of #2 wouldn't care if pagerank was removed. So if I were to guess, Google is still weighing the effects of removing it by not updating it yet still undecided a bit and not making an announcement.

    ^^ lol :D

Not sure some of the others here will appreciate the blank space..but funny nonetheless. :p

I'd agree with Reseg, Google is changing algo's and is weighing the effects of not having the PR toolbar so readily availbale to webmasters, to buy and sell links.

Anyone thinking that Google will stop TBPR export is living in a yahoo land. If Google was to stop showing PR in the toolbar, why did they export PR values to their directory (webmasters can still se the pr in it) then? I think they got something more important to do at the moment and the export will come some time soon. Be patient :)

This thread is cursed/jinxed.. The pagerank will not update as long as this thread is alive...

Lets kill it and then burn it, send the ashes to Google and pagerank will update......

Killing the thread is not enough... Google demands a sacrifice!

The next 10 people to post in this thread must be bound within a Giant Wicker Man, which shall then be set on fire with them in it, at midnight, on the next full moon!

Then, and only then, will the Google gods be appeased, and the PageRank be exported!
