How to get more traffic?

Discussion in 'General Marketing' started by Subzero, Nov 27, 2005.

I am struggling to get decent traffic to my website. Except for publishing new content and getting more links to my website, is there anything I could do? My website is about 5 month old.

    Thanks for help…

get each content page into a top ten serps with at least a few common keyword combinations actually in use by humans,
that brings you some 10x more traffic than a 11-20 serps page

add an active RSS feed and submit it to RSS directories

To get more traffic to your site you must submit it to search engine. People prefer to search some product instead of enter to your site. This is the case of CellUp.com. Once google indexed more than 53000 pages from my site, the traffic to my site increased.

One other comment would be to wait for 1 more month. Google often does not let a site out of the sandbox until it is 6 months old. After that, if you have plenty of backlinks, etc. your google traffic will increase dramatically.

For me, it was obvious that the PR and inbound links the site had should warrant a significantly higher position. I was not in the top 1000 for some search terms when I should have been at least in the top 50. After 6 months passed, there was a huge jump in the rankings and traffic.

I should also note that I did have some traffic from google before being let out of the sandbox. It would have to be a very obscure search term, or our company name though.

I think the best leads are from the forums similar to your site contents.

Be patient and dont panic. Sort your backlinks, make sure your code is compliant and above all enjoy refreshing your content.

Add a xml sitemap to your website and the equivalent version from Yahoo.

    Finally have a great day!

publishing an article is one good way of gaining inbound links.
Optimize every page of your site to target a particular keyword or phrase then submit to as many directories as you can. Performing an exchange links to other related content website is a good way as well.

Doing SEO and improving your SERPs is a great way to get a major, long term improvment in traffic. That being said, it's also very time consuming and can be extremely difficult if you get into an overcrowded market.

A good alternative would be participating in discussion boards and forums related to your website's niche and include links in your signature. You will be exposing your website to the people who should be most interested in it and building exposure and links.

Other than that, you could always pay for PPC ads if you have the cash.
