SMF or myBB?

SMF all the way. I have not tested it, but it looks great. And, I have heard great things about it.

 

For me I like myBB more than SMF, and Vbulletin more than IPB.

 

Well, I am glad for one thing, I never get spammed.

I've always liked smf and I've tried mybb...

 

Vbulletin is probably the best choice as its the most customizable, but SMF is also a great feature that comes with a $0 price tag.

 

And MyBB is better again. If you can wait until MyBB 1.4 is released, you will have a near perfect forum system, rivalling vB. As it is, MyBB 1.2.9 is still more advanced and user friendly then SMF, plus good support and plugins.

Of course, if you can afford it, go vB

My point exactly. As I posted before myBB is almost like VBulletin.
I would pick mybb over any other free forum software.
Also as a opinion I think Simple machine forum is kinda "childish" looking.
You be the judge of what that means..

Anyway, MyBB is the best free forum software. With PhpBB and SMF you have to modify them just to get what you can in default my MyBB. Plus thread control is a nightmare in SMF. Plus the ACP is annoying and complicated to get around,

MyBB is nothing like vB, I really don't understand why people say it is.

What exactly does MyBB have that the likes of SMF doesn't?

After reading this thread and having a look around i have been able to decide what one i will choose for my first forum and its MyBB, thanks to the OP for opening the thread and for eveyones suggestions.

I usually take much longer to decide on scripts, i once spent more than a week deciding on a gallery script not a bad thing though i guess.

If i had the cash i would most likely grab vBulletin, but maybe for a future project.

 

what gallery scripts have you found the most usefull?, I've looked around alot for thies. Gallery 2 is pretty swweet it allows uploading with the WinXp publish to Web feature. Super convient! But I think its bit server intensive.

But yes.. I think mybb is better then SMF.

 

Hi Dollar, ive only used one gallery script so far and thats Coppermine, i read constantly before deciding on it, similarly i have not before used a forum script but im pleased at what im reading about myBB.
