I think it's good that so many in charge, or formerly in charge of this clusterfuck, feel the need to sacrifice their careers to save American lives and get us the hell out of there. People who realize that their careers and their jobs don't mean as much as the survival of our nation (our foreign policy will affect relations worldwide for years to come), and the survival of our troops. They, in my mind, are real patriots, because they truly love our country and wish to defend her.

Of course, some people here will call these men traitors and call for their execution for turning to "dem damned liberals". Can't see the forest for the trees, I suppose.

I always find it interesting that in one post, people that pretend to support the military are the first ones to place the knife in their back and proclaim their guilt when "allegations" come forth.

The same people take no exception to when moveon.org calls one of our most decorated Generals a betrayer.

The only time they seem to give respect to the military, is when a few offer dissenting views. Of which, these men that have served our country have more right to, than anyone else.

I've not spun anything. I did point out some interesting observations though.

It sort of reminds me of a previous post I made, when people that traditionally stab our military in the back, suddenly are kind to a general when his view meets their agenda:

Suddenly I'm having a feeling of deja vu.

Of course you didn't spin it, you simply addressed the issues but forgot to leave them out of your reply. Here maybe you can try again....

I addressed the issue. Although it's not really an issue, but more of an opinion.

You can't offer a reasonable counter, which is quite typical for you.

    "The" generals, or a few?

I pointed out another one who has had a dissenting view as well. They have every right to those views. I respect their service. Others stab our military in the back, then pretend to care about what they have to say, when it fits their agenda.

akula made this point for me. So far, he's been unable to counter it.

Counter what? Your constant drivel of "if you dont support the war, the administration, the president and Israel you are a terrorist"? This is stale and very apparent as your only desperate tactic. What is to counter?

Why doesn't the military, politicians, and everyone else listen to us armchair experts?

Just kidding, I think everyone has a right to their opinion. Being a vet myself, I feel I can freely support or reject our policies and practices of our military without being accused of being a fair weather friend. As a citizen of the US, I feel I can support or reject any politician or candidates' ideas, etc.

I would believe and respect the opinions of military leaders far more than that of a politician, including one who "served" like George W did. There's a sense of honor and duty in military folks that seems to have escaped many of our politicians.

I'm suspicious of most of them. And when their actions demonstrate questionable or foolish behavior I will speak out against them. If and when they make what I feel are good, thoughtful decisions, even if I don't necessarily agree, I will respect them.

    <edit>
Therefore, I do not respect or believe in our current president.

None of these are issues in this thread. Let's recap:

You initially offered an amazing and brilliant argument with:

    I offered a view of:

And since then, you've been crying "but, but, but GTech won't debate the issue." LMAO!

The ball is still in your court. Are you too afraid to offer a rebuttal?

As to the article that this thread is about, I think it's a bad sign once the military leadership in general starts to offer descent. It goes against the whole chain of command, which is at the heart of its structure.

If it was just one or two military leaders with experience with the issue being concerned, then I'd listen, but not necessarily be worried. This is much more than a few.

That's good to know. Not sure why you would offer that, but good for you!

I agree, General Abizaid is entitled to his view and I (and others) should respect his service.

As is General Petraeus, whom the left (people like akula) slandered by moveon.org, because he didn't fit their agenda.

    See the pattern?

I agree. It's amazing that you offer so little when others offer so much, then have the nerve to say they don't address your four words :D
