Because StumbleUpon detects that your stumble is 'artificial' (possible but I am not 100% sure)
Simply just use the stumble button more to obtain 'legal' fans, it works :)

you can get tons of traffic of stumble upon but non of them will click on your ads and make any order of your product ..
its good only for your alexa rank

Again it's not the same case for everyone. I've seen them actually do click ads while I've yet to see the day when they purchase anything.

I too have ued stumbleupon on previous sites. at its peak I maxed out around getting an extra 300-400 visitors a day but almost none of the traffic converted to sales. few weeks later traffic down down to around 40 visits a day.

Stumbleupon is good for traffic, but like others said it's very hard to convert.

    Hey Guys,

I've seen many posts in this thread where some of you are saying that Stumbleupon can help you with your SERP's position.

Could someone explain this in a bit more detail?

    Regards
    Ant

It's a great source of traffic if you have some good original content.
Check out the Freebies forum ;)

IMO, stumbleupon traffic can either be usefull or just a waste of bandwidth. It depends on your site content. I notice that traffic that comes from stumbleupon tends to stay longer on site rich in audio/video/photos. My personal photo blog got hits from fellow stumblers and they tend to stay 20 - 30 mins browsing my site while they browse my site for a a few second or minutes on my other photography site which has more text than photos.

Traffic can range from as little as few hundreds to thousands, again it depends on your site content and tag. A general tag would do more wonders than a niche one!

Converting traffic to sales with stumbles, I don't really think it works but its a good source of traffic for certain niche.

Not too sure about adsense, since I don't really use adsense for my personal sites, but I have not heard anyone being ban from stumbles. You can always email google to check it out just to make sure and backup so in case they do ban you because of stumble you can always show them thier own email :)

    From their FAQ
Won't StumbleUpon get spammed by people promoting their websites?

No. StumbleUpon recommends pages based on correlation and user clustering, rather than average ratings, so people rating their own sites as 'I like it!' cannot spam the database. Anyone attempting to circumvent or abuse this system is in violation of our terms of service, and is subject to prosecution.

From what I've seen, I get maybe 1 or 2 stumbles if I list a site here in Digital Point Freebies, but I've gotten hundreds from truly organic hits from fellow stumblers. I've "liked" so many of my pages, I rarely get anything from them when I click the buttons myself.

From what I can gather, they have an algorithm system in place that helps to weed out apparent stumble traders.

It also REALLY helps if your page is worth stumbling, as if it is, you'll find other people clicking that "I liked it" button and the wider base of people that like it will result in a wider range of people actually seeing your page. Also, if the first person that hits your site does not like it, that likely adversely effects additional stumbles. So again... a great page = great stumbles.

your best bet to getting stumbles is to join a few stumble groups from stumbleupon.com rather then the freebies forum here at DP. you'll find that your friends there will "like" the pages that you like...

Well, I have to say that when I'm using stumbleupon I rarely buy something ...

However, what I often do is bookmark interesting websites.
