why must we take sides - either the US or terrorism?

    You have to go back to world war II for your answer? Those were our own troops in a world war. What about those civilians that have died, not related to the US? Where's our state sanctioned vigils??

    Ok, "more die in the US every day from Drunk Driving". There are many people that hold vigils for those killed by drunk drivers. MADD for one.

    Mia - You didn't really answer the arguement that since America originally belonged to Indians, shouldn't everyone else leave?

    That would be fine with me and probably with him since he is also part American Indian.

    But what is your point again?

    Indians live throughout the USA, some have stayed on reservations and others have left. Not saying that how they were treated was right, but those who live today have a choice.

    Jews have lived in Israel for many years even during the time it was called palestine. They are still there, just more now. Palestinians can live in Israel in peace, they work there, they worship the moon god there, they can live in freedom. Those who want to destroy Israel tend to live outside of the borders and send in bombs on the backs of their children. Could a Jew live in the palestinian territories in peace? If so, how many live, work, and practice Judaism inside palestinian terroritory (new word..)

    I think I kinda summed it up by smacking the crap out of darkstat who is now in hiding for making such disgusting remarks..

    No one in Israel is saying that no one else can be there... Hell, Palestinians, Americans, Iranians, etc., are all welcome.. Always have been... Can't say the same of places like Saudi Arabia.

    The argument makes no sense.

    I will close with this.. Indians believe the land belongs to no one.. We belong to the land. Stew on that for a while..

    BTW, it was your ancestors that came here and slaughtered our people, not Americans...

    I don't believe that was the question. The question was over who the land belonged to.

    Well it certainly doesn't belong to them anymore ;)

    Erm, where do you think 'Americans' came from? Did they just appear overnight?

    And I told you...

    And again, it never did... We belong to the land.

    Nixon gang neocons don't believe in property rights. They're hyperactive communists who want to take what you have and call it property of the state.

    It's not much of a stretch to understand why they don't see any rights of the Palestinians.

    wow... its just thread after thread of this.

    d16man came in here and proved the point of the OP yet instead of laughing at him and moving on you allowed him to derail the thread out of the fear of actually having to debate the topic.

    whew... so glad America is waking up to conservative political smoke and mirrors.

    Yep. You'd be surprised at how the hypocrites come in to point out something (usually not honest), while completely ignoring those shouting "neocon" and other epithets right above their own posts.

    You've probably noticed that, eh? ;)

    In 1984 Orwell thought that wars would be propped up to keep the economy stable and to destroy the surplus of material goods produced. As long as a common enemy was found in one area of the world the focus on leadership would be diminished and there would be no reason for the 'proles' to seek any alternatives. As one long term conflict faded as a media construct a new one would consume the public's consciousness until it was time for a new paradigm shift. In this manner they could actually achieve a sort of world peace, but the cost was a world wide totalitarian system that would leave the blunders and weaknesses of the 20th century models in the dustbin of history...:eek:

    i think that at the moment the west are presenting a new and dangerous kind of totalitarianism that was unprecedented in the past. once upon a time a nation had to actually physically invade another country for a war to be initiated, but now war can be initiated if the west simply doesn't agree with the culture or politics of a particular country, or the implication that they might at some time in the future pose a threat. a bit like pre-emptive crime fighting as depicted in the sci-fi movie 'minority reports'. and the scary thing is that we are all being brainwashed by the media and governments alike to develop a new mindset where 'peace is war' and 'lies are truth'.
    so perhaps big brother is with us, but is disguising himself as 'the free world'.

    just have to add this to my previous reply -
    even at the height of the second world war prisoners would not be held in such inhumane conditions as at guantanamo bay. should we not be worried about this? twenty years ago we would have been, so what is changing?

    I notice that even Bush got some flack in the media over here after his 'human rights' speech.

    What took you guys so long?
    Does the UK have lot's of Neo-Cons too??

    It's vile, phony propaganda, Bush said "you're either with us or against us."
    ~~~~~~~
    The people who call pro-peace individuals 'terrorists' don't often have many logical (or honest) things to say.
    NeoConservative ("new" conservatives) are not conservatives (or republicans) at all.
    Please never forget that.
    They only use the same cause it sounds cool. They're a bunch of fascist uneducated "lets bomb the world and ignore history" freaks.
    Roman Empire. Maybe you've heard of it. Remember that story ? If not try this on for size.
    British Empire
    French Empire
    German Empire
    Do I need to keep going ? Did everyone forget how the global conquest game always ends ? Let history be your guide.
    The US is a terrorist state there for you can't decide between the US or the terrorist - because we are terrorist also.
    What we must decide between is war and peace, freedom and slavery, profits or people.
    Reporting from the front line in America,
    Me :)
    No, luckily the Conservatives over here (of which I'm one) are a little more educated than our American counterparts. Sadly it's the left-wing government over here that are doing the damage to this country.
    I'll second that.
    This is a very worthwhile point.
